I was wondering if anyone knows a place where I can find out what particular words(curses) most radio stations want edited out!!!!

I'm sending a couple of tracks to the radio and would be rather pissed if I paid for the postage and copyrights and then they can't even play my sh!t.........nah mean!!!!!!!!!

i work at a station as well..
but the words they edit out
the most are
fuck shit asshole pussy bullshit... (according to fcc rules)
and things of that nature

depending on the station manager they will sometimes
make people edit
nigger and bitch

some stations though
(check with the head of the station)
will allow curse words "within artistic content"
after 10 pm

They call it the seven words ------ the phrase which was taken from a George Carlin album in the 70's..........

the words were:

shit
asshole
cunt
fuck
cocksucker
mother fucker
pussy

that was then this is now....... some have changed and new ones have come into play...... There is NO official list put out of what you can or cannot say.....It really comes to a matter of taste for the station who will be broadcasting..... The FCC has some rules regarding language which are very broad for instance

you have to refrain from using language that is indecent


ok...... what is indecent to you may not be to me....also if you use something that is indecent it matters how it was used....was it with sexual preference or meant as an insult.....


They rarely enforce or regulate regardless of what you think or hear..... You only hear the stories of when the FCC complains because people start yelling 1st amendment, but on a whole between all the language used on tv and radio...they rarely get involved with individual cases......


My point is...its not the FCC its the radio station that really regulates their own broadcast when it comes to language....and every one is different.... so the safest thing to do is what the other members have pointed out..... edit them all with scratches beeps...drops...whatever....
