ZPhreak - As far as I know, Jamal tracked the lead vox with a Studio Projects "C-1," straight into his DAW.
My vocals were done with an AKGC3000 that I'm SOOOooo close to getting rid of, into an M-Audio DMP-3 Preamp that I just got, then to the computer. I don't recommend the AKGC3000 for vocals, but I hear the same model "b" is pretty decent.

I have the model C3000B and I don't recommend it for lead vocals. Oddly enough there is a dip in the curve at about 2.5k which, as a friend who knows what he is talking about tells me, is exactly where you DON'T want a dip for a male vocalist.
But that also turns out to be a good dip for background vocals if you wanna clear the way for something else to punch right through...so I'm keeping mine and I'm writing songs with only background vocals from now on.
This song is stuck in my head now. Can't wait to hear it on the radio.

Damn! I've heard a lot of homerecordings through this board by now and a lot of them are more then decent but this one just sounds so great. Don't change a thing, except maybe the solo (sorry dude), it could do with a bit more impact.

You know Jamal I semi dissed Chris's solo on the first thread of this tune.
As I said, there was alot of real estate and changes to cover.
The finished product has definately improved the sound and flow of the solo.
It fits into the "sound and vibe" of the tune much better and if it was this way on the first take I don't think I would have said a thing.

Good song! Nice mix putting all the elements together, I especially like the bass playing and the drums. Vocals good.
Only bad thing I notice is a high end fuzziness... I had to check the mp3, sounded like that sound of encoding at a low bit rate. Especially the lead vocal has a distorted high end fuzz. Sounds like a 64k mp3 of a professional song.
Maybe I should check my connections though...

Some serious improvment from the first version. Great tones all the way around. I cant really add to whats already been said.
