Hey this is for any L2000 owners out there or anyone who could help...So I have an '87ish L2000 and it's great..slaps great, plays great, etc...only problem is that I have it set at semi-low action, and these pickups POP way too easily, and it's especially noticed while recording..The E pops the most I guess because the more slack on it makes it slam into the magnet more and pop worse than the rest of the strings..now I've adjusted the pickups, but if they go ANY lower, the extra small ledge on the side won't be there to use as a thumbrest anymore and I won't be able to play as neat and clean...and even raising the action doesn't help because my slap approach is very vigourous, ala Flea style...anybody have any ideas? it's really annoying especially when i record the bass..its plays great, but I can't record nearly as well as i can with, lets say my Schecter Model-T with active EMG P/J's...because those don't pop and catch the magnet like the G&L. please help with any ideas!

I'm a guitar player, so I'm not sure this will work, but what if you take your string gauge up a notch? I believe that would require greater string tension to tune to pitch, and thus your strings would be a little less slinky. Could that be enough to keep those strings from reaching the pickups?

i'm runnin a decently heavy set on it already though....any other ideas?????????

On a G&L L2000 the pole pieces on the pickups are adjustable. You need to find the right size hex wrench.

I had a bass that did that. I wrote it up as me not being a bass player and thought that I was doing something wrong. I'm glad to see someone else has this problem. :p

wow thanks ed..so i look, and it looks as if the hole in the center of each on the E string just looks stripped...and they seem as low as they can be, seeing as the A and D are a bit higher..ugh...any other ideas guys? :(

let the popping aid you in learning how to play it or get another bass.

yeah, won't be getting another bass anytime soon..just got this baby in the summer and its one of the best i've ever played haha..maybe i just can't slap on it and i should stick to the schecter..:(
