Free Drum Loops

hey guys ive a basic project in the works, I need some free, VERY basic drum loops to tide me over before splashing out on drumsondemand and m audios prosessions. Can you guys provide? Links or otherwise. Id be indebted. Paul.

Go here and do a search for a VST plugin called 'Drumatic 3'.

It's free.

Then drop it into Cubase and create drum loops to your heart's content.

Cheers dude i will get that though i have an LM 7...thing is i was looking for some pre-made or recorded loops, that I could imort as wavs.

What you'll find out there for free are mostly midi files, and you can make your own midi files with the equipment you already have.

Create a new song in Cubase, set up a midi track with the LM7 VSTi, then when you've tapped out what you want on your midi controller export it as a one, two, four, eight bar loop, name it and set it aside.

Then repeat.

In half an hour you will have many drum loops in a midi file format, which have the great advantage over .wav files of sounding the same at every tempo. You can import these into any one of your fine compositions, and if you've marked one as 'verse', one as 'chorus' and a couple as fills you'll make the cut and pasting much easier.

thanks again, but ive been there and done that...programming is very difficult to get sounding fluid, unless you have electric drums. And alot of midi VSTs...plugsound, the LM 7 etc are kinda fake sounding.

I have been looking over the net for those free samples recently as well

You just need to register and then you are able to dowload all sorts of loops, but one of the great things about the site is their links section

I think there is enough drum loops there, and in various styles, and some of them are in wav. format already

Look man, I pre-fixed that with 'thanks again'. Its not my fault your methods happen to be redundant. Don't be an over-sensitive asshole. I dont need it.

I think you'll find that ssscientist is really preching you the gospel man...I used to work with just loops and now I have gone to total midi drums too...its actually much easier once you get the hang of it and you can change tempo/time sigs and etc way easier than with .wav files. One of the biggest detriments to me as far as the loops go is that they never seem to sound like the same kit...be it miked different, tuned different, eq'ed different...there's just too much variation.

If you're hell bent for loops though, google "betamonkey".

If you don't mind spending $150 and saving yourself alot of trouble, google "EZDrummer".

Just my two pitiful cents.

I didn't mean you any disrespect when I carefully spelled out the procedure that I and many others like me have used since the dawn of standard midi files to lay out a scratch drum track --- which is what this topic was supposed to be about in the first place --- to drop under a song. You said in the original question that you wanted some 'VERY basic drum loops' and that mean to me the tempo and sound flexibility that you can only get by using midi loops.

And no, it's not enough to give a grudging 'thanks again but...' as a way to shrug off a whole method of working. Especially if you follow it with a well-worn cliche like 'been there, done that'. If you haven't gotten that deep into Cubase, maybe this will be a good opportunity...

Look Scientist, I think its important we both understand that I'm not disagreeing with your methods; I take exception to the fact that you're clearly an arrogant prick. Thats why you got neg repped, and I'm sure there'll be alot more of it going your way if you dont drop this 'shunned-genius' melodrama.
