February DIY Challenge!

Here are my power supplies. A problem I was having with the Symetrix units was their power cords would pull out from the unit easily when I would adjust the cables in the rack. Since the power supplies used a pair of wires, I cut the ends off and replaced them a four pin XLR cable. You can see the silver connection in picture of my post above. I used the end I cut off to route the power from the chassis plug to the PCB. (I left the original power connectors on the PCB.) Now I have a secured plug going to the rack without me having to worry about bumping it and having it fall out.

#2 - not sure what I'm going to do here - there are only three caps, and they're all electrolytic with either high capacitance or high voltage ratings. I got some dipped tantalum. There is a 1uF 300 volt one, and I got a massive poly to replace it, but it's too big to fit. I hope to reduce hiss a little, but may just leave it alone in the end.
#3 DONE! In that I got in touch with them - but they don't sell new boards. So I guess I need to change this item to "trace and repair the damage I did to Digital MPA...

#1 was done on my last post
#2 is done, because you all talked me out of it (thank goodness)
#3 (modified) is done -- I used hookup wire to restore the connections that I messed up, and the Digital MPA pro is fully functional again (with different opamps in several places)

Now, for the rest of February, I'm hoping to close on a new house and start moving, and my singular DIY goal is to keep my wife from appropriating the room I have tagged for my studio location. She wants to turn it into a big breakfast room!

March will hopefully be all about room treatment for me. If I make it ugly enough, she'll back off :)
 
D-Class Amplifier

I put together a D-Class amp based on a Tripath TA-2024 board I picked up from a DIY'er in China. I'm using the amp to power my "monitors" (3-way home stereo speakers). Has no volume control since I connect it directly to my control room outs on my mixer. Runs on 12v power supply.

I will soon be starting another project that I can hopefully get done this month. I'm going to be putting together an OD2 kit from BYOC, but I decided to source my own parts this time, so let's hope that works out. Getting close to finishing the mod on my other pedal, too.
 
#1 almost done

Real close. Just need some small trim parts, minor woodwork, and a panel but for the most part it's compleat just aiting on 2 more patchbays for the desk. I think I could have done better if I just took my time.

gerard - that looks incredible! And the little window and doors give the impression that you have oompa loompas working for you

Jumping in the pool

OK. So I have never done anything very involved with electronics and have spent the last 2 and a half weeks reading everything I can. I just ordered a P1 guitar amp kit from Doberman. I doubt that I will get it done in time for any February deadline but at least I am trying. :o:o More later.

Thanks for the comments! Finished #1 but jumping to #7. Just got 1000' of cable and a bunch of connectors in. Not sure if I can finish by the end of the month, but I'll try.
 
Cutting cables, soldering connectors, cutting cables, slobering connectors,
cutting......well, ya get my point. On my 2nd 1,000FT spool of 8451. Oh the joy. Can't wait to start the patch bays.
