"jokes"

the songs on my site are a pretty good representation of what I do, but I had limited samples at the time so you can tell its fake. The arrangement and playing is tight though!

over a name?

I'm a hip hop/electronica producer. I use my MPC 2000XL to sequence, but sometimes i use Acid 4.0 or Fruityloops. As far as a comparison of the three, I am a complete fan of the hands on programming of Akai MPC 2000XL. But those budget programs only make it easier for visual people to program music. Acid is a revolutionary product all on its own. And Fruityloops is basically another easy product to use. Some people like different interfaces. It has nothing to do with price. Some people only use Vision systems to sequence. How old and cheap are those? But sometimes people feel comfortable creating a different way. I suppose the name "FRUITYLOOPS" doesn't get the respect meat n potatoes would, but give them credit for the spin on the name. Other than that its just a name. Besides they were obviously concerned about their consumer appeal too, which is why they changed the name to FL STUDIO. But regardless what's in a name? It seems on this board, lots.

I'll give you that. It's your website that I think a few people might take issue with. Joke or not...

the whole "fruity loops is gay" was a joke.

My point was that if you're going to use a piano roll to sequence drums so you can play guitar or track other instruments over it, you might as well use Sonar for everything simply because it can do everything. If you can't afford it, then nevermind.

I guess your stuff is ok. Nothing to rant on about. If it is really music from a video game, you ain't any better than anyone else playing someone elses music.

I still am assuming that there were no microphones harmed in the making of your music? Not that there is anything wrong with that. It's just that it's a whole other ballgame when the mics come out and you're trying to capture an accoustic instrument or speaker cabinet.

You better hope your mommy doesn't see that website of yours. She'll spank your little ass and make you delete all your pirated software.

Ya there's a few other really insightful statements on his sight...You can tell he's a real deep thinker.:(

Auqanet

I think that 80s shit i just heard/"video game music" was pretty gay.

Just to get this out of the way;
Fruity loops is the best alternative for real drums (it's not only for techno/dance music!). If you know how to use it, you can make drums sound very realistic up to the point where half of you guys can't even tell if they are real or not. It takes some time and skill though. I'd rather use real drums but I never learned how to play them..

I myself use Fruity Loops in combination with guitar, bass, vocals and keyboards, all recorded in Cubase.
Here are some of my (cover)songs: http://users.skynet.be/fa260404/Koen/

Didn't you listen to what I said? There are better sequencers with the same MIDI capabilities as Fruit Loops. Therefore, Fruit Loops is not the best for drums.

I use the Motif for sequencing...

Everything... What is a good resource for learning more time and swing settings... I have a step programming feature I dont use enough... I have a 1/4 note quanitize swing setting and a 1/16th
setting for the hi-hats...

I record in 4/4 can you all cover the other settings in more detail?

I am tired of the Preset quanitize settings on the MO and the swing settings are all number coordinated.. I can edit forward or back each note which is tedious but would like some visual options to compare and experiment with...

Thanks..

with all things being said, i'm quite happy using fruity loops and will continue to. i turn them into wave, and import into pro tools. once you get the hang of swing, and velocity (two most important things if you want them to sound "real") and you get www.nskit.com natural drum kit -- real drums you'll be set.

It seems that a simple question devolved into a quite different subject. I don't care who is gay or not; some assessments on drum programs would be nice.

To those who had to spew verbal garbage, I would sure like to have a tour of your "rock-star jet airplane".

Love,

RB

don't listen to me then

I don't give a fuck if your mixes have terrible drums

Trust me, no one here will listen to a redneck, homo-phobic, white-supremist, clueless-asshole such as yourself.

The more you post, the more your true colors come out... you can't say things that are completely inappropriate and get out of it by calling them "jokes."

If you don't smarten-the-fuck-up and start contributing something worthwhile to this community (not that you can even manage that), I'll do everything I can to see that your ability to participate here is withdrawn.

IMO, people like you have about as much value as pedophiles and rapists - and while others have come around disrupting the site, it's the really sick fucks like yourself that I'd like to meet in person to provide you some real-life "re-education."

 moron.........
