saw one for cheap last night, does this model have some noise issues?

does the newer deluxe version sort the issues out?

the price difference was almost $200 and all im after is the delay effect.

Yeah, it's pretty noisy. I have one and don't use it much.

But it's a great delay for tweaking.

I've got the Deluxe with Hazari...

I haven't noticed any noise issues. I've had a lot of fun with the effects on this thing...very cool!

 Electro~Harmonix......

Like, is that a vacuum cleaner?

:D

Excuse me, Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai!

I was just playing it in the studio. It could ALMOST be a vacuum cleaner with all of the neat stuff on it.
Speaking of pedals...right now, I'm dreaming of a Roger Linn Designs Adrenalinn III. This thing is incredible (plenty of video's on YouTube with the Master himself doing the tutorials)...

The DMM is almost loud enough to be a vacuum cleaner...

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Its a great pedal. Much warmer than other delays ive tried. It does have noise issues, but you can only hear them when you are not playing. its got a great little pre amp too, the chorus is deep, and the vibrato is pretty good. It can get a bit over effected if your not carefull, but the knobs are big enough to tweak with your foot in a live situation.

Maybe not the pedal for an ultra clean studio delay, but its good for the soul in many other ways:)

Always thought this was a neat pedal live. Gotta be around for 30 years or more.

Recall this old Country guy I used to play with when I first moved to PA. Apparently he'd been quite the local star years before. He used the MM, and it sounded great! Will never forget his name: Ronald McDonald. (Real story.)

Agree with the noise factor for studio use though.

Thanks for the "memory"!

ya it would be more for studio stuff, i just hope its not that noisy when all my pedals are off ( i think i'll put it last in the fulltone/crybaby chain)

thanks for the input, im off to buy it :)

Its one of my fave stompboxes, it makes everything sound good:)

Every piece of Electro Harmomix equipment I have ever tried was noisy. It's just not pro grade stuff. It's really geared toward garage band level inexperienced kids. However, some of it (like the Small Stone) are such great sounding effects, that I do keep some around. I would NEVER use it for recording, though.

...It does have noise issues, but you can only hear them when you are not playing...

Now, why does that sound like a strange, almost perverse, contradictory statement to me?

I must agree, E.H. gear had it's day-but its not now! I pulled out my old original Memory Man a few months back to play around with but soon stashed it away after hearing the noise it produces.

I don't know...

I use several EH pedals on my board (Stereo Mem Man, Deluxe Electric Mistress, Small Clone, Small Stone, Big Muff Pi). Do I get some noise...yes, I suppose, whether it's from these pedals, my other pedals, or my familiar Strat 60 cycle hum, I have no idea. I do love the old analog sound I get from my EH pedals though, so the noise has not got in the way. If I'm recording something with relatively quiet passages, I use my Lexicon to get the desired effects. For louder stuff, however, I use my pedalboard through my Fender Blues Junior and it sounds good.

:D

Once youve started strumming, you cant hear the hiss. You can hear it when you stop....Its aa bit annoying, but I dont mind it in a live situation, the benefits of the tone for me, outweigh the noise. Im not really a garageband teenager market either, Ive been playing guitar for 23 years, and still chose the memory man over several other delays....but then again, I like analogue stuff, and have a soft spot for quirky gear, over studio sterility...Ive been told off before from the other guitarist in my band about having rickety old effects, he shouts at me when he's trying to record my guitar bits on his digi studio, and I see his point, but then I'll listen to some great band on vinyl, or some Ella Fitzgerald, and I really dont mind the crackles from the stylus...in fact I think it adds to it...its all down to your own taste at the end of the day...:)

well said mr fruit

i have it now, it hisses and its noisy but god damn this pedal has some really nice delay effects that i haven't heard anywhere else. i was really concerned about getting pops when using the wah but i think some of these quirks would sound great on a recording and just give a bit of character, you know? i was never a big fan of polished trks.
