Look im sorry that I didnt realize you and greg must be dating.
Ha! That's some funny there. Like I said, I've had enough. I don't have time for this shit.
Yes, using drum samples is in effect, bypassing the tuning, mic placement, and performance aspect of 'capturing' the performance to some degree. I don't ever use complete replacement, more enhancing what I have recorded. That does not mean that there is less importance to getting the sound to start with to me. To me, the process of getting a good sound is just as important to achieving the great sound. We are all looking for the same result. I am only implying that it takes more than just processing to achieve great results. I know you've heard it a million times, but here is one more to add some redundancy. Shit in-shit out. You can always polish a turd, but a diamond is much prettier in the end right?
I would love to hear more ideas on post tracking processing techniques. I am always willing to try anything. We can all learn from each other. Even my boyfriend! LOL

My computer is old. I don't even think it'll run drum samples. I'm not anti-sample either.
I don't use samples, but I'll take that as a compliment. My computer is old. I don't even think it'll run drum samples. I'm not anti-sample either. Hell I'm open and honest about using guitar sims sometimes. If I used samples I'd say so. All I care about is the final product. I've posted raw tracks bunches of times - warts and all. Admitting things And being honest is no problem for me, but in this case there's nothin to admit. Sorry. You're just gonna have to a cept the fact that my drum sounds and playing are what they are. Quit being so bitter and angry. It's fucking stupid. I don't give a shit if you respect me or not, cuz frankly, you're an oversensitive goof with an obvious chip on his shoulder. Lol. Fucking get over it. I've been out fishing since 5am and you've been sitting here crying about me.
Anyway let's start over.
Hi offcenter. How are you?
While my DAW app is pretty decent (Samplitude)...I run it on a 10-year old W2K workstation!
At the time, it was hot shit --- dual processors, etc --- but because the OS and the age (speed) of the processors, I can't run a gazillion plugs and I can't run certain apps, like EZ Drummer (which I have and would like to try out), because they won't run on W2K.
That said...since I mainly use my DAW for edits/comps and spot fixes and I mix OTB through an analog setup with all outboard gear, I can get away with that DAW, but I would like to move to a newer computer, which I actually already have...just to lazy to make the switch, and so far I've not really had a need to.
I'm not always 100% happy with the drum sounds I have, but I'm stuck since I only get my drummer buddy to come over once in awhile, and then we usually bang out the drums to a few songs against nothing more than crappy scratch tracks, so while they sound good going down, when I start to add the rest of the instruments at a later date, sometimes I wish I could change the tone of some of the drums, mostly the snare and kick...so having the ability to use samples when in a tight spot, certainly would be another option.
This winter I bought a bunch of snares (I now have 7 snare drums) so that my drummer could have a greater variety, but again, sometimes the drums sound great going down...but later on when I start adding other tracks and mixing, I might prefer a different tone, and it's not easy to just bring him back to redo tracks.
At least you guys that play drums can always re-track and make adjustments even deeper into the mix process if need be. I do that with guitars, vocals, keys...but my drumming skills just ain't that sharp. I use to be able to bang out a pretty steady beat and some cheesy rolls, but my buddy is a damn lefty drummer, so that keeps me from even trying, and the kit is just too large to tear down and switch around....I don't have the energy......so having some samples and EZ Drummer would be a simpler way for me to fix the drums when needed.

One other trick is to vary the midi velocity and timing of EZD hh via the drum editor or piano roll in your DAW. Drummers don't hit the hh consistently and the robotic feel of EZD can be pretty obvious.
I wonder what offcenter has said about me today and i bet that shit ruined your fishing trip.
I had no idea you're Rick Rubin.
Talk to me about compressors.....lol.
Get one with a pressure gauge built into the nozzle. It's a pain in the bum to keep switching between the air hose and the gauge.
