The bell curve has turned into a sign wave! I got a sweet air compressor - It's loud as hell so I have it in a closet - then I ran hoses out to a pressure limiter and split it up with two overhead self coiling hoses - one for the nail gun and one for the paint sprayer. I use it to clean shit off too - it comes in real handy building arcade cabinets - and a whole lot of other crap... Man a good air compressor - can't beat it. Nail guns are the shit.

Im not mad at all. I think it suck that i started to comment on things for other peoples stuff to help them, Go do normal shit for a while and come back and even the people i try to help are getting their jabs in. As it turns out ( cause i was sure there was a reason people take your side) you are judging an upcoming mix contest. That says a lot right there. I am not a dick but i am stubborn and wont back down from a fight on the computer or the street. I would love for you to go away and let us talk about music again. Leave me alone and ill leave you alone. Keep it up and ill keep it up. And for the record. I dont give a shit how you get your drum sound. Over everything songs are what matters. If you cant write a good song but can record it really good its still a shitty song. So in closing, maybe you should put more focus on that aspect of your musical endeavors and then you can act like your Quincy Jones.

Heres me:

I can get a drum set sounding good. I want it to sound fantastic. If i get a band in that wants to track im not going to do all the stuff that they should already have done or know how to do. Gateing and compression and eq and limiters are all the norm on almost all records. I have not once seen anyone that is recording a modern rock album do nothing to the drums but mic, eq, and compress them. Ive listened to greg l's stuff on his site and the drums seem more processed than just compression and eq. Not to sound like im doubting his said approach but most of us that record at home do not have a treated room and the best mics, or a neve 8068 console. So post production is a big part of a home studio setup. Dont get me wrong here, im not new to recording im just wondering what other angles i could use to go at certain situations. Please dont think im coming off rude but tuning and mic placement is a big part of the picture but that is mostly the canvas and all the other stuff is the paint.

You're coming off as a little unnecessarily defensive. You can't paint without a good canvas. And if a band comes in and wants to track, it's not up to them to tune and mic their kit. It's up to you, as the engineer/producer, to get that stuff right. Are you just gonna plop some mics on the kit not knowing if it's tuned right and then process the shit out of later on to hopefully make it sound good? That's ass backwards and will not work. You wanna make pro sounding stuff, so do it like the pros. They don't half-ass the basics hoping to fix it later. They nail the basics and the extra stuff later makes it shine even more.

As for what you have and don't have, at least treat your fucking room.

How could that look like i started this argument? I made a statemnet that he didnt like. that wouldnt have bothered me at all. So who is the sensitive one?
 
Yeah I play all the instruments myself on my recordings and ill post some if you would like to hear. Id love to hear you bash the hell out of them. Ill post a few and you can critique. And to the dood man . Shut up and quit kissin this greg dudes ass. You really sound like his groupie.

See thats what id expect from a guy who probably sits around and reminisces about playing with Arlo Guthrie when you were teens. Now i bet you run a music shop right. I didnt ask basic questions. I asked questions that could be led into a discussion about something more advanced. More people reply when not asked to go into something difficult right off the bat. Dont get into this cause im not trying to make enemys but if i have to so i can get my point across thats ok with me. You gotta break some eggs to make and omelet.
