This has sort of been touched on in another thread, but I don't know if it's gotten the traffic it needs to find an answer........so here it is. :)

Is there any major difference(s) between these two mics? From what I understand, and that's not much, is that the capsuls are different. If so, does anyone know what the difference in sound is/would be. I also see that the older versions are/were more expensive......like close to 300 bucks vs. 99 that they are going for now.

Thanks,
Rick

Are we talking about the older 509? or are you asking about the other 609? :)

There is a big difference between the three.

OK, I just got off of the phone with Sennheiser, and they say there is no difference what so ever in the e609, and the e609 silver. They just found a cheaper way to produce it. They use the same parts and everything. Sound is supposed to be the same for each.

Now they have a new E906 that's out that's supposed to be pretty smokin', but I've not found any info on it as of yet.

Thanks,
Rick

From what I've heard, the silver 609 is brighter than the black 609.

I found a something on the UK sennheiser site that mentions the E906

this is from the website:
-----------------------------------------
The super-cardioid e906 is designed specially for guitar amps but is also excellent for percussion and brass instruments. The flat-profile mic has a lively, full sound. The frequency response can be switched in three steps (flat, slight drop at 4 kHz or a stronger decrease at 4 kHz).

great , another mic I'm going to obsess about

Yeah, I actually spoke to the guy about it, and it sounds pretty sweet, but I haven't found anybody selling it yet???

Thanks,
Rick
