Blast Off

I thought I was on a trip to The Dark Side of the Moon...

Nice job

Medication rebound effect. Does happen.
You seem to be musically describing a manic or possibly standard bipolar episode.
Egging you on is good.
Shot gun haircut is a bitterly clever phrase.
All that's missing at this stage are the small group of "others" breaking through.
Ah, they're almost there at the end.
I wouldn't be so specific in your song description - let folk interp what they will - I can understand you need to get A message across but people have active, if overstimulated, receptors so give 'em a chance.
A REALLY good tilt at this windmill Props - well done.

I have a bit of a problem with over-explaination, if only because I don't want somebody to take it the wrong way. You are right though. I will try to tone that down a bit. And a big thanks to the dark side of the moon comment. That meant a lot! Thanks.

-Adam.

Yeah if Floyd and Bowie made a baby, it would sound like this. Pretty good. I'm not usually one to comment on arrangements and songwriting and stuff. I generally focus on giving audio quality and mix feedback. I must say though that this song kept me pretty interested. Lots of changes. It's like 5 songs in one. Good job.

Oh and no nits from me on the mix. Very good.

Excellent conception/composition ,performance and mixing, Adam.
Nice piano playing. And your singing is really impressive.
Some nits on mix? Not sure (and considering is a "6 in 1" song, give it to 20 engineers and you´ll have tottaly different things...)

Great voice tone recording and guitars in the last part.

Ciro

*Due to my poor english I lost biggest part of lyrics,a pity.:(

I love it.

Maybe a little too much verb on the vox. /shrugs/ I'm not a big fan of the detuned piano sound, but it works here. Maybe some accordian during the "come on do it" section. You could arrange this for years.

What a great song, Adam.

Great song!
Beautifully arranged and played. Mix has a nice ambience to it in the slower parts. Nice vocal arrangement ;)
How did you record the acoustics at the end? They sound great. The piano too....
Well done!

Cheers
Joe :):)

Floyd and Bowie or maybe McCartney and Morrison. Very creative tune. It takes a listener through a journey. Okay, the very ending, What was I thinking... I like the idea with the echo, but not sure if it works well.

Mix sounds great throughout. Good job!!!

Cheers,

This is really cool. I like the way its structured. Its got well thought through movements and sections.

The synth sounds are especially cool. Its the attention to detail that makes it cool. It started sound very 'porcupine tree' at the end (thats a very good thing:))

Good work.

Props to the propman!

You are very prolific and your arrangements are always unique. Love the vocal sound on this. The faster quirky vocal lines (particularly with the harmonies aginst the piano backdrop) remind me quite a bit of early phish. My guess is that isn't what you're going for, but I mean that as a compliment.

Nice job dudener.

Sounded more like Queen and Floyd's child....

But that's just to my ears it sounded like so.

Great mix playing. Interesting thing is the drumkit changes. The first snare sounded very cool. The second one sounds good but after following the first, it sounds like it could be slightly better.

The piano playing, and the synth arrangements are very cool. The bells are cool. Like Joe said the acoustic sounds good and that's nice capture.

I want to thank you all for your VERY kind comments. I will try to answer some of the stuff you have asked, and reply to your really nice comments.

The acoustic wasn't really recorded with any great plan. I stuck an Audiotechnica AT-2020 in front of the guitar (I use that mic for EVERYTHING) and that's about it. I didn't really do anything to tweek it in the mix. just tossed a bit of verb on there. It was running through an m-audio fasttrack. One of the main things that changed the sound that I noticed right away were the choice of strings I got. I bought a set of D'Addario Light gauge Flat-Tops, and put them on my Starcaster that my dad got me about for christmas one year. I really like that guitar. I made some poor string choices in the past though, and it always sounded dead and crummy, and that is the reason there is a lot of acoustic burying in some of my mixes. I am really glad you and others like the sound of that, because I was really surprised when I listened back at how good it sounded. It just seemed to fit well with all of those shiny synths.

What a group of people to be compared too. I am flattered. Thank you very much.

Thank you for your comments. You know, there was a song by Porcupine tree I used to listen to all the time called "Piano Lessons". It is an honor indeed to be compaired to them, and for reminding me of them. I haven't though of them in years. Thank you so much. I am listening right now, and it is great.

Props to the propman!

I have to admit, I have never heard phish. If you think I would like it, I will give it a listen. Anything you want me to listen to by them? Thank you for you comments. I am glad that you have put me in to the catagory of unique. That means a lot to me. That's what I try for, but it gets hard when it seems like all has been done, you know?

Queen and Floyd. Wow. Great combination. Thank you very much. I had a few "that sucks" moments about the second kit you talked about, but it grew on me, and I think if fit it. It is up to the listner I guess. Thanks a Lot though.

You're welcome. Their first album "Junta"...in particular the song Reba. Some of your stuff reminds me of that kind of thing. Hard to sat whether you'd like it or not, but certainly worth a listen...

Joining in with the rest of the crowd....this is a great piece with many different sections. Another similarity is Supertramp, which is another one of those groups that write what I call "prog" or "orchestral prog". Styx was another one...You have your own sound which distinguishes you from them. The mix sounds fine by me....

Thank you for the nice comment. I haven't heard of supertramp that I know of, but I have heard of styx, and thanks for that. The genre is an interesting one to be placed in. It is really cool to hear what people have to say about my songs. Good or bad it is always interesting. (I like the good better though:D) Thank you all for being objective. I believe I have learned a lot from what you guys tell me.
