new to the forum, new to acid pro, did a search but didn't find an answer...

i guess i just don't get it.

i was messing around in acid pro 2.0 and couldn't figure out how to create a loop. my question is do i need to make a loop in a different program and then import it, or can i record in acid and then adjust the wave so it loops correctly right in acid?

i recorded a little test, but i want to get rid of the silence at the beginning and end of the wav so it loops right

thx

You will need to get a sound editor to cut [truncate] the dead air space from the beginning and end of your samples.

You'll also need an editor to help you properly cut your samples.

Spinster, I have enjoyed most of your commentary so far, however, enough of this Sound Forge Crap!
In Acid, using the Loop Region and the pencil (or paintbrush) you can easily truncate/trim and then render just the loop region and lo and behold you have a new perfectly looping sample. Earlier this evening I posted an edit of a 16th beat hats sample for the kid who needed a click, I edited that down and rendered directly from Acid4 pro, so, let's not tell the newbies to go out and buy another application when they already dropped hard earned cash on Acid...Not trying to start a fight, I just realised that I had too many apps and focused on using less tools for more output.
I now run Acid, Vegas, 3Ds Max, Photoshop7, and Flash MX and I can do just about anything that I am inspired to do. Trust me, we all only need Acid, a handful of plugs, and a couple VSTi's to get any kind of output, though, we still will be limited to 16bit depth the human ear can not differentiate between 16 and 24bit...

Acid is great but it doesn't replace the functionality of an editor.
Damn, I've never seen anyone challenge spin...

I like a challenge...
Guys, I promise you, I have used, sold, or maintained just about every tracker and editor, Acid 4 has all the capabilities and such a comfortable GUI, just trust me, give me an instance or scenario where Acid can't do something that SF can, go on, I dare you!

Granted that you can't use a hammer to insert a screw no tool can do anything that it was not made for, I chipped my front teeth as a child because I didn't use a wire stripper, but I will stand behind my well practiced theory that Acid is a tracker, editor, arranger and mastering tool, you just have to know how to utilise it...Oh and yes, you can drive a screw with a hammer, grip the pan with the claw and rotate...See, anything IS possible with the right perspective, that was the point of the first Matrix film, being human means being capable of incredible beauty and disturbing ugliness...

1. That's good for you.

2. That very well may be true.

3. Okay, let us use this example for an instance.....

Hypothetically speaking, let say that I wanted to remix a song that uses a "live" drummer. We'll pick the song 'Another One Bites the Dust' by "Queen".

Let's also assume that I don't want to change the tempo of the song. I just want to remix the song so that it is "on beat".

I would open the song in SF.
I would highlight the first two (2) beats of the song.
I would copy those two (2) beats, then paste the beats under its own chronological name.
I would then repeat the process for every two (2) beats of the song until the end of the song.

I would then open ALL of the individual WAV.s in Acid (as LOOPs).

Then I would Ctrl-M all of the pieces. That in turn, would render the song into a "on-beat" version of the original song.

Now, as you already know, Mr. Omnipotent C D'Asta, that feat cannot be accomplished with Acid.

Yes, I know that you can open the original AOBtD with the BEATMAPPER function, but since the song AOBtD has a "live" drummer the Beatmapper function will NOT work.

Yes, I also know that you can open AOBtD, then change the FORCE DIVISIONS and STRETCHING METHOD once you change the TRACK TYPE. However, most peoples computers won't be able to handle a six (6) minute song as a loop (once you change the TRACK TYPE). AND.... the song still won't be "on-beat" after changing the STRETCHING METHOD and/or FORCE DIVISIONS.

I believe that I have conveyed this information in a manner that is simple enough for even your pedestrian mind C D'Asta.

Si vous plait, do not doubt my veracity when I make this statement. I hope that you do not lack the eyes to see the unparalled from the parallel. The weakness of your knowledge will be apparent to everyone that reads this post, if you can not comprehend the procedure I posted that proved your statements as false.

Peace...
