Connecting studio equipment

I have a Beringher Compressor Pro. Does anyone know the best way to connect this to my Mackie mixing desk.

I bought the compressor second hand and don't have the user manual.
It has a main output then 2 channels with a +4/-10 dBu switch, send/return input, send/return Sidechain & an output. It also has 4 xlr connectors, 2 beside each channel.

Would I use Stereo leads or normal guitar leads to connect it?

If anyone could help or even direct me to any good web sites that explain how to connect different studio equipment it would be greatly appreciated.

Check Behringer's website. They have all their manuals available for download. You should be able to get whatever info you need from there.

Also...what you're recording, how you're recording it and what you're recording to would be helpful to know for anyone here to help you.

Good luck.

Thanks! I'll check that out.

I'm recording through a PC with Sonar 3. When recording acoustic guitar (with an sm 58 mic) or vocals (with a Rhodes NT-2) should I be compressing these whilst recording or wait until after & compress them in Sonar?

Wait till you record and then listen to see if you need any compression at all.
