You can not reason with a bullet flying at you. Or can you? Well, You can try, but if you do - you are dead. So you either shoot back, either walk away (or both :)). The result is kind of the "same" - The End of the Movie :D

The one thing which continually puzzles me over is why would our good friend MCI2424 post here, in a place so very much despised by him, when he can join his buddies over at prosoundweb.com and trash us there ?

and it gets worse... he uses our arguments against other people in other forums. :p

I'm still trying to decide if the web is real or not. ;)

Doc, you're right again... I'll just take credit at gunpoint when I feel I deserve it, at the end of this movie. ;)

Happy Trails :)

AND! Never forget, that you'll take credits as:
the original concept author
the screenwriter
the actor
the film director
the cameraman
the composer
the musician
the sound engineer
the editor
the producer
the publisher
........
as only can be seen at HOME RECORDING :p

and of course you'll take what happy end brings - that useful stuff in the bags from the grave....
.... even though sometimes it's not about what you take and how much of it, but rather about HOW you take it :D :

Gentlemen, Gentlemen, Please......

Instead of having a pop at each other why don't you concentrate your talents on
trying to answer the post I made a few days ago "Revox A77 alignment tape and
recording level".

Then I would be impressed.

...see, that's what I'm talking about.
To impress ME - concentrate on me.
Where else if not here? :D :D :D
*******
No problem: HERE YOU GO

Dr Zee

Thanks for the info but I have the manual already. Unfortunately the English version
is badly translated from the original German and in any case it doesnt answer my
question as the output from the "test tape" mentioned in it is not given so I can't extrapolate the answer I need. Revox doesn't exist as far as tech questions are concerned so I have resorted to asking the question on Homerecording.

As far as ME ME ME is concerned. My comments about regarding answering my
question were a light joke, just a bit of fun. Lighten up, life is to short.

Please don't bother to reply. I won't get involved if you do as I won't be viewing
this particular post again.

Hey ace, the heads obviously have some wear, but your specific comments on how wear for that particular head is discernible and how bad it is are simply wrong. And you only dug your hole deeper with each ridiculous comment.

And I don’t see ARP (Dave) making observations even remotely resembling your assessment of these heads.

However, even if/when Dave and I don’t see something eye-to-eye there is one big difference between when you post something (anything) and when Dave posts something – Dave has credibility. He is one of the few people on the forum who will give me pause to double-check my facts.

You don’t have that status. You resigned of your own volition from ever being taken seriously on this forum long ago, with your vile, mean-spirited, continuous harassment of members.

The nature of your conduct here does not fall into the category of family squabble, which happens on Internet forums. It is a relentless one-man crime wave that never ends. If you’re not big enough to repent of this unacceptable conduct and apologize, maybe the least you could do is just stop behaving like a child so that the hard feelings are not so acute. Maybe then sometime down the road, and after you’ve learned something about the area under discussion, you can contribute something.

You are not liked here because of the way you treat others… no mystery. Your insults have no effect on me or anyone else, because we know who you are and what you’re about.

I did not realize anyone had to *measure up* to your seemingly high standards since you choose to record on home hobby style recorders.

I would have thought you would stepped up to real equipment.

You love those types of statements, don't you?

Here is the problem with many here (you #2):

All tape recorders have their place. All were designed with a purpose in mind. I have used and owned most of the Teacs, Fostex' etc.

I have no problem with them and one can make fine recordings with them.

However, you guys (like the mic forum) have no idea when to quit, frequently tell new users looking for a machine onerstated horseshit and blowing these machines waaay out of proportion in theire sonic abilities.

Anyway, I gotta go since I just got a call from a buddy giving me a free Fostex B-16 that works great. I love those machines and they sound very good too.

You would know.
BTW, the deck works perfectly. Another great addition.

I did earn it though. The album I recorded for him (for almost free) ended up in him signing with a minor label. He got a pretty good contract and the album will go commercial with only a good mastering.

What the hell, I love those 1/2" decks for pre-production. It save my big deck's heads.

while searching for some crucial info on old ampex units ..heh heh I've come to THIS PHOTO ARCHIVE page (see there pictures in "Pictures taken at Peter Carli's house"-section :) )...so, looking at those photos I was thinking : "What the ...hell??!!! :D ...
ok, then I've found this text page - must READ all the way through !!!!!!! :p , which of course reminded me about this very thread, and then I kind of got an idea what those photos could be about... sort of :D
