C1... got my vote

Bought one of these this week. Beautiful Mic. Case and shockmount Windscreen for $200, was a good deal to start with.

But the sound puts my voice where I want it (eye-level in the mix) with a little compression and no eq. Pro sound. I used it with my focusrite preamps in my Mbox. <---happy camper.

Best money I have yet spent on a studio component. Highly recommend. I bought mine from a local rep (not store). I could have saved 12 bucks in sales tax through Ebay, but I wanted a local guy to go to coordinate repairs if necessary.

Plus.. no waiting..

Hey crazydog, I see you started this thread last year... so what happened, did you buy a C1 or not... and do you think the C1 is "cat's pajamas or ass"... and what does "cat's pajamas" mean to you? Thanks

No, I never got a C1, so I can't comment on it - I just got a lot of cheaper mics.

"The cat's pajamas" is an old early 1900's saying meaning "the greatest":

Entry: admirable
Function: adjective
Definition: respected
Synonyms: ace, attractive, best ever, cat's pajamas, choice, commendable, cool, copacetic, crack, crackerjack, daisy, deadly, deserving, dilly, doozie, dream, estimable, excellent, exquisite, fine, gnarly, good, great, greatest , groovy, heavy, hunky dory, keen, laudable, mean, meritable, meritorious, neat, peachy, praiseworthy, rare, smashing, solid, spiffy, super, super-duper, superior, unreal, valuable, wicked, wonderful, worthy, worthy, zero cool
Antonyms: despicable, low, rotten, contemptible, detestable, hateful, loathsome, repugnant, repulsive, unworthy
Concept: superiority

I wouldn't say it's the cat's pajamas, but I might go for hunky dory or crackerjack.

I don't own one, but I'd like to know how a C-1 compares with a MXL V67, which I do own .

Me too, since I thought (after research) that the V67G is what I should get, and am soon to buy, but am still open to opinions.

It does look that way... but actually MrGrooves posted to the thread after the thread poped up on it's own.

Besides that... other than this being an old thread, I don't think anyone really cares about an old poll that is closed.

The thread popped up because someone voted in the poll. No one need post a comment or response to the discussion thread for the thread itself to pop up on page 1 of the forum. All it takes is someone voting in the accompanying poll.

Definitely one of the better options in the $200 and under bracket. Not overly versatile, but a good vocal mic.

Great.

Happy New Year.

Yeah, it looks like your right... I guess it will be kind of fun to see the new poll results every few months.

I guess it will be the same with the Is the MXL V67G the best LDC for less than $100 for vocals? http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=135588&page=1&pp=25 thread too.

C1 thru a nice tube preamp is the cat pajamas :cool:but no closer than 5 inches it sensetive

Looks like we popped up again :) I'm still enjoying the phrase "cat's ass". Very American. :)

"We"?

PMI Audio Group Marketing must hate the fact that so far... out of 101 votes... 53 voters (that's over half the voters) don't think the Studio Projects/797 Audio C1 mic is all that great.

"We" ... this thread. It got a new poll entry and so it popped up again.

As for PMI ... well you'll have to ask them. Personally I'd vote for any option in any poll labelled "cat's ass". It's beautiful. :)

Oh, and if we're going to play with numbers ...

By the way, DJL Troll Group Marketing must hate the fact that 93% of people who voted in this thread have found the C1 to be useful, and that 81% reckon it to be either a 'good' or 'great' microphone.

Out of more than 100 people, only six others voted with you that they didn't like the mic. Guess I should go and buy one, cos pretty much everyone seems to like theirs.

Gosh, that must really hurt.

I wonder how many times PMI-AG voted.

Hmmm ... let me think about how to answer that. Hmmm ...

Pardon?

By the way - if you want to carry on needling, how about you email me. I'd enjoy that. I guess what I'm saying is ............... stop being such a little pussy. If you weren't scared of me you wouldn't be creeping around trying to get a little jibe in. Now come on - you know my name, you have my email address, hell I'll give you my phone number if it makes a difference.

Or we can carry on with your pathetic crap, and everyone will carry on laughing at you. Your call, buddy.
