does anyone have any experience with these two mics for male vocals? theyre both $499 at Guitar Center and I want to pick up one of them. Does the tube in the GT66 give it a noticable warmth over the Bluebird??

Thanks

I can't say anything for the GT66 but the Bluebird is a very nice Mic for it's price. I have used it on Male vocals with great success. Tried it on a deep voiced Italian singer and it sounded great!

Groove tube, great on anything, especially nice on male tenors and acoustic guitar

thanks tpreageri.

had the opportunity today to try out a friends gt55 and it sounded pretty good on my voice. Is the gt66 radically different sounding than the gt55?

No Problem. I just tried the Blue Bird on a female vocalist last night and worked out really well.

What preamp are you using with it?

i am going through a Blue Robbie Mic Pre. My other LDC is a Blue Dragonfly which sounds good on a LOT of things but the jury is still out if it works well with my own voice so I'm thinking about trying something different. My voice isnt the most powerful male voice so maybe im looking for something a little bit more sensitive maybe?

Have you or anyone ever compared the Dragonfly to the Bluebird or GT66?

Ditto. I haven't tried the bluebird though. I have heard a GT55 and it doesn't sound radically different from my GT66 (I think it's the same capsule) just less "tubey"

I owned the GT55 for a while and wanted to love it, but just didn't. I like chinese condensers for my voice. (I also thought I liked it for a few days, but it takes more than that for you to bring up the old mic)The GT55... a lot like the AT3035 for me was just too dark... the vocals I recorded didn't sparkle. It's preference but I want to sound dynamic and pleasant, and against the hate your own voice tendency, the studio projects c1 and behringer b1 type thing works for me.

So if it was me, if the GT66 is anything like the GT55 I'd go for something else before.
