Hello everyone.
I have a Behringer C1 microphone and a MIC100 Preamp connected through the onboard audio card to PC.
Everything worked good until about 3 days ago.I hear a crackling noise when recording and playing.
Is that a solution tu buy an audio interface?
(sorry for my bad english)

Yes, you need an audio interface.
The crackling you're hearing is called "Glitches" and are caused by your buffers, not keeping up.
I'll suggest the M-Audio Fast Track Pro. (make sure it says "Pro")
It's on sale at B&H right now for $160.
Other than that, any Audio Interface in the $200 range but no less, should suffice.

You should follow this link too.

And do a little reading.
Have fun. :drunk:

So i'll buy an audio interface but something like this or the T.BONE USB-1G doesn't help me? it's more cheap
No.
Those are not good enough.
Read my last post.
You can't do it for cheap.

I have the C1 & M100 & use them together often - they aren't great but then again nothing I have is great.
I don't have problems though because when I'm recording analogue all is smooth & easy & when I'm doing digital work I use a decent piece of digital gear that's made to do a decent enough job - but it's a PCI audio 8I/8O card & break out box. You really need to get something better than USB2 if you can manage the extra cost.

I don't understand why it worked very good until 3-4 days ago :(

Then go into your DAW and increase the buffers.
USB 2 is just fine, Ray.

yeah I have a mic 100 that i stick my bass through...too noisy for vocals..Ive got a C3 mic and its pretty good for instruments, havent really tried it for singing but it seems and OK mic when Ive used it

I don't know how to increase buffer size i'm using Cubase 5 on windows 7

When i try to read the manual it says "Could not find the manual"

That's because you didn't follow through with my first post.
I went to the bother of leaving you with a couple of links.
One of those links would have taught you a great deal in a short time had you followed it.
Why not go back now and follow the "Tweakheadz" link?
Once you do that, you will understand how to record onto the computer.
It's not rocket science but you do have to study a little.

how much i have to increase buffer ?:D
I've increased it up to 16000 but no results :(

You'll need to experiment won't you.
Do a test recording with the mic, with a different mic, with the pre, with a different pre etc etc & see where & when the prob starts/stops.
People won't hold your hand unless you hold on too.
Jim, sorry about the USB2 - I have only 1 usb2 device & it's none to quick.

What do you have?
There are plenty of 8 channel, USB devices by reputable companies so you can be sure they are not junk but there are also a large number of entry level devices that have no place in a studio.
The M-Audio Fast Track USB is a perfect example of this. It's a piece of junk but the Fast Track Pro is simply marvelous.

I'v tried a dynamic microphone on my MIC100 and there are no glitches .... it sounds verry nice. So.. i bought the C1 about 2 weeks ago and i don't know why it should be wrong with it . Is that possible that my improoved connection f*cked my mic?

EDIT: now the other mic has glitches too. Ive tested my preamp with no inputs and it has glitches so i will buy an usb interface :D
