well ive heard great things about the EMC for acoustic and vocals so i bought one today.

i also have Rode NT5's and Oktava MK-012. I havent had time to test the mic out yet but what are everyones feelings about the EMC compared to other small condensors???

IMO it's a very decent mic for the money. I would just try it out and see how you like it. Some do, some don't.

They work great. I use them on acoustic guitar.

Well, I did...until my guitar broke. :(

Yep, normally good bang for the buck.

If possible, try them out or make sure you have a good return policy as they (not all of them) can develop quite a bit of "self noise" at higher gain settings.

Cracked bridge. :(

I have a pair of the ecm8000's. No self noise issues for me. (at least not that I can hear on my equipment)

I had a friend who used NT5's on overheads. We both didn't like them much. Very bright mics in that application, as many of the Rode mics seem to be. He replaced them with SM81's and never looked back.

I've never used the MC012's, so I can't comment on those.

The ecm8000's have a reasonably flat response, if your source sounds good, and your space sounds good, the ecm's will sound good. One other cool thing is that they are omnis, and are very forgiving of mic placement.
