A few years back a company, can't remember the name right now, made 'single string pickups' for electric bass... Meaning there was a different coil for each string, and they weren't molded together with plastic... You could move each one independently... This company has since gone out of business.
What I have in mind is to build an electric upright bass... As you know, the fingerboard on uprights is curved thus why I wanted the independent pickups... Can any of you guitar guys help me out here?
I know I could just use a regular Fishman pickup or similar, but I want to make a 'real' electric with coil pickups... I like that sound... I've thought about using 2 of the EMG P-Bass pickups and mounting them under the strings just below the bottom end of the fingerboard in a "V" configuration to better fit the lay of the strings...
Please give me your thoughts...
