The Pie Guy
I am recording acoustic guitar with a Rode NT1 through a tube pre into CEP2.....

I place the mic about 4 inches from the 13 fret angled dot towards the soundhole........

I keep picking up breathing....me breathing....it is aggravating the hell out of me...

any tricks/tips?
post tracking suggestions?
filters?
is there anything I can do about this?

I just had a guy in who did same thing{nose}very loud..Had some sucsess with changeing position to the lower top bout instead of the 12th..also angeled the mic down{sm81}..so the back{null}of the mic was faceing his direction..Good luck bud

You might try some of those "Breathe Right" strips. Supposedly they open up your sinuses.

Might help.

Stand up and use a strap to record or come in at the same fret from another direction hopefully not pointed toward you but at your left shoulder.

Doctor's mask?

Try putting something around the nose/mouth like a doctors mask or a scarfe. This should supress the breath noise a little?

With the nose guy get him to wear a swimmer's clip on the nose!

Shuold shut him up once and for all!

Thanks fellas........

some good ideas here....
Thanks Much! :D

Haha, do you mean when you're signing Joro? Or when you're not signing and just playing? I would just say use a gate plugin.

I struggled with this for ages. Eventually I had to (a) learn to breath in a non-noisy fashion - through my mouth, not nose - deeply, slowly (has the side effect of calming you down which is a good thing for acoustic recording if it's a difficult piece (b) finding a mic spot where the breathing wasn't as noticable that yielded good sound quality - for me this meant an SD condenser 6 inches out and above the 9th fret pointing straight at the ground.

Good luck in your search, it took me a year to get this sorted!

Quit thinking about your little hottie while you're laying down tracks and the breathing should return back to normal:D ;)

That was more mic positioning I was struggling with - not breathing!
