Hey all. I would really like to get in on this somehow. I see it looks like you already have the drum parts but if any of you guys got anything else in the works that need drums, ket me know. Im a total beginner at recording and seriously out of practice on my drumming but I would like to give it a shot.

If you could take the scratch track that you posted and separate the tracks it would be much easier for people to contribute. This way they could be loaded into a multitrack program. If a person wanted to ad a part then the existing one could be muted or levels raised or lowered as needed to facilitate recording. I've been working on some guitar and vocal tracks but without separate scratch tracks it just sounds like a big cluster f***.

It will be....

Rocket is adding a bass line to the new drum tracks, then he will pass it on to have guits, vox, etc added......

Hey Rokket, I got your PMs. I'm stuck on another couple of late shifts, so I will have everything downloaded tonight. Definitely looking forward to this, and it looks like this should become a regular practice with all the new heads poking in.

I have the bass part done, and the drums are up, as NL5 said. I can put up a mix without the distorted guitar parts if you need it. PM me....

Yeah, and it seems that people are also asking in other forums about doing collabs too.

The wave of the future.... :D

EDIT: I will have my bass part up on NL5's server in about 8 hours....

Hey Rokket, I got all the stuff. And after you check your PM's, you'll be likely to say, "that Purge guy is one redundantly redundant fucknut."

That's exactly what I said, and some other stuff.. Check your PM...

Hey, you really did say that--cool!!

How's that bass line coming along?

It will be on NL5's server tonight..... I already PM'd him about it....

Yeah, I really did it! It was the song "Such A Shame". Cellardwellar wants to download it, so I am going to put it back up on soundclick tonight also...

And another guitar player wants to join in this collab, so I am going to put the scratch track up without the distorted guitars and no vocal...

You guys haven't ruled out the previously offered trombone track have you???

Actually, this was just a shameless entry to:

A.) Pad my post count

and

B.) Bump this back above the "Alternative Rock Solo Artist Jesse Britney Spears Garcia In Utah" thread...

I have the bass line done. Going to upload it in a bit....

OK, the bass line is on NL5's server..... It's two tracks, bass1 and bass2 mp3, for a stereo track...

NL5 will have to post the link....

The lyric rewrite. Scrubs, this is for you:

Wasting my time
on forgotten words and memories
of you
Staring at the floor
on the verge of being broken
I see you

Look up at the door
Do I have the strength to open it now?
I’m through
and if I did go outside
what’s to keep me from going insane?
Not you

I struggle with my addictions
Release me from my pain
wanting what I can’t have now
what have I done and what remains?

Eating me inside
Like a cancer I can’t escape
And you
Burning in my soul
For another day of solace
In you

More aware of my fate
I can see the end is nowhere in sight
Of you
And what do I do
If I can’t have another moment
With you?

Thanks, Rokket

I've been out of town, but I'll check out all the files soon.

Here is my first rewrite of the lyrics. I tried to keep the basic theme the same, but changed many of the lines. I still don't have a strong chorus yet.

Also, could someone repost (or PM me) the link to the sound files?

Wasting my time
On forgotten words and memories
Staring at the floor
On the verge of falling in between
These lines
Dividing you and me

Biding my time
With twisted rhymes and melodies
Wish I had not seen
Your faith in me fade so quickly
You could be
The one to make me real

Chorus 1: ???

Looking for an answer
To a question that I can’t define
Reaching for a door
That only leads me back inside
To these habits
That are locked within my mind

I’d tear this world apart
And put it back together
If only I could convince myself
That maybe this love is better
Than any other
Pain I’ve known

Chorus 2: ???
It doesn’t matter that I’m dying
For you’ve only got this one moment
To lift your life above the rest

To be quite honest, I love what you've done. It is still vague about whether I am talking about a women or a drug (maybe that will spawn a chorus for you). And that's what I was going for in the first draft.

As far as the link, the parts are still coming together. The drums are done, and the bass line will be reposted this weekend. Purge is working on the guitar parts, so maybe by Monday, we will have something solid for you to lay the vocal to.

Are you planning on having backing vocals?

NL5, Purge, and whoever else is concerned: the new bassline is posted on the server. It follows the collab mp3, so the timing issues should be a non factor. Plus I think the performance on this one is much better, as well as the bass tone.

Let's see where this goes.

Are we going to be able to submit this for PMC#9???? Or is someone going to mix it and post it.

(I will probably download all the files for my own mixing practice. It will be nice to use someone else's tracks for a change, plus a challenge for me...)

Good deal, I'll go grab the tracks. It's the address you PM'd me with, right?

OK,

The drum, bass, and scratch tracks are all in this zip -

http://www.nlrstudio.com/mp3/collab/drumandbass.zip

Files should work just like the mix contests - set them all to start at the same time, and they should line up.

Here is an mp3 of the tracks if you want a small D/L to practice/write too -

It's just straight fader up mix - NOTHING was done too it (it's a bit sub-bass heavy - oops)
