Here's what I did today. Compare it to what it used to be in the attatchments I have here...

The desk in the pic I'm attatching was 70 bucks at office dopot and is built rock solid. If your looking for furniture for your studio head over to office depot and check out this corner desk. Made by O'Sullivan. 70 bucks for a workstation. Can't beat it.

My back is sore from putting the thing together and moving all the equipment.

Here's the pic

That pic make my studio look bright. It's not. Here's one w/o the flash but is slightly(not much) darker than it really is down there.

Good job.....

Hoky, how high are your monitors in relation to your head at sitting position? The reason why I ask is that I bought a very similar corner unit from Staples for $100. It had similar shelving...almost like a "hutch" with compartments on one side. The desk was perfect except the monitor placement was not acceptable. I got around this by re-fabricating the existing shelving to make two identical shelves at a better height (head level). Only needed a handsaw...though I used power. It worked out so that only finished edges were showing....people actually think it is original studio equipment.

I'd bet you can do the same thing with your unit.

Re: Good job.....

Nice Yadi, can you show me a pic? My monitor "units" as you called them(as that's good since that's all they are, makeshift "units" They are Bose listening speakers). Since my "monitors" aren't really the head triangle isn't as(or perhaps more?) neccessary. The center of the woofers are about 2 inches above my head. I have the shelf over the mixer(obviously) and I don't know how much I can lower it though :(.

I'll try to get a picture and scan it. I don't have any pictures as of now. Now I see the convenience of a digital camera...something else I don't have. It may take some time, so keep your subscription/notification on for this thread.

As far as your monitors: Can you put them on their sides? Right now it appears that your mid/hi program material is going clearly over your head....should be right at it for nearfield monitoring. It makes a big difference.

I might try that. I just have so much crap on top of my desk now it might be hard...
