Yup. Soft-spoken, sweater wearing, girly men.

And electrics are for soft-spoken, sweater wearing, girly men with baby-butt soft fingertips and no hand strength.

C'mon Greg. Tell your wife she will never be a real guitar player until her fingers bleed. Then raise the action and put super heavy's on that thing.

Here we go. The acoustic queens are starting to rally.

I don't want her to be a real guitar player. I don't even care if she plays. She wants to try though, so I'm gonna make it easier for her.

Seriously, I would definitely swap those strings for a set of lights. Coated strings like nanoweb strings will be even easier for her. And if it were me messing with that guitar, I'd start with Muttley's suggestion and drop the saddle height 10 - 15 %. If you sight down the frets from the nut to the saddle, watch for a bump where the neck / body joint is located as it can complicate things. What you're looking for ideally is a very gradual arc down and back - just a slight bow arising from string tension. If its too much or has a bump at the 12th - 14th fret, then you may need to play with the truss rod as well. But just start with one thing at a time and see how small adjustments work.

For all those that suggest lighter strings, forget it. The action is around a quarter inch maybe more, way too high even for a junker. Lighter string will mess with the intonation and sound shit to boot. The correct fix is as I suggested way back. Thats why I asked teh gerg what the deal was and gave him the correct solution.

To recap. Lower the saddle as I described, tweak the truss rod to get the right relief and then if you have issues with the nut or buzzing strings deal with them as they occur. There is nothing more likely to put off a novice than a badly setup instrument. Especially if he or she see's her nearest and dearest playing away on other instruments with ease.

Now all you pussy acoustic guitar loving faggots get out of gergs thread and go make some music or better still some musical instruments..:p

I fucking hate acoustic guitars. They're so lame.

Electric guitars are for weak-wristed girlie men who have to rely upon amplifcation to achieve expression... I'll exempt you because I know you're a drummer, however...
