finding the right mic is so confusing.. and i dont have money to throw around when i still need a sound card, and preamp, cables, stand, shockmount etc..

my choices
mxl 990 so damn cheap with so many things :p
mxl MXLV67G $100 dollars and people say its nice
sp b-1 $80 dollars
Behringer b-2 $150 with a shockmount (people say the b-1 was garbage but on soundclick the people who use it have decent quality

for example sunzoo on soundclick http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/sunzoo.htmhttp://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/sunzoo.htm

he uses
Behringer b2
Delta 44
ART Tube Studio Mic MP Preamp

ill have around 350 dollars to by a preamp, mic, soundcard, and then the rest

which should i go for? (plz note im not singing but rapping)

For rapping?

Not sure about rapping... Guess it depends what sound you're after?

Maybe a dynamic would be more suited than a LDC? Have you tried, in this price range, a Shure SM-57 on at least an "OK" preamp?

If you want LDC, then SP B-1 is pretty versatile, and gives a lot of bang for the buck. It is on the bright side, but not nearly as exagerated as a C1. The V67 is darker, but also a good buy. I would stay away from the Behringer.

For a preamp, some options would be SP VTB-1, Joemeek or tfpro 3-series, or a DMP-3. VTB-1 gives you the option of some tube-like sound. Joemeek can give you some additional colour when you enable the compression, otherwise they can be pretty clean and quiet. DMP-3 is clean sounding. There are more of the kind, but I would also stay away from the Behringers.

Not sure about sound card; I guess a Delta would serve you quite well.

For whatever it's worth, I recently got an MXL 990 and an ART OPL pre-amp, and I like them quite a bit. I'm sure there is some vast shortcoming that my merely-human ears can't detect, but for $150 for the pair, I'm plenty happy.

i do my raps using a behringer b-1 going into a UB802 mixer, through a composer pro (behringer compressor) and into a audiophile 24/96 and it works for me. i want the 67g so i would say get that. the yamaha mg102 mixer could help when expanding your setup a little bit and thats 99 and the audiophile 24/96 is 99 so thats 300 and 50 leftover to buy cables to connect everything....checkout www.americanmusical.com

yeah i might just get the 67. do any of u guys have a page on soundclick or somethin i can so i can hear ur quality?
