I have this burning question but I don't quite know how to ask it. Okay, here goes... I want to set a tempo to a song so that I can attempt a cover. I'm trying to create a simple 'guide track' with a click sound.
I've recently discovered my software allows me to 'tap' the tempo but I don't...
On going...
Better to work it out in Photoshop than make a gaff with the wood.
Is that a good position for the speaker monitors or not? I've seen a lot of people have them in this position in home studios but I would never have considered it for domestic hi-fi.
Would rather have the mixer...
Now that I have your attention... ;)
Here's the mix so far... thanks to guitarplayr82's synth notation and kc's bassline...

Still a lot of EQ tweaking to do and it's still very quiet on account of the headroom I've left myself - but I think it's a...
I wasn't sure where to put this because my question is about 'bouncing' tracks in a DAW. About how to do it properly and looking for tips on keeping the load down. Though in essence, it's probably more of a computer issue.
First up, just to be sure... 'bouncing' is when you take a pattern...
I know there are 'musical' terms to describe the parts of a song, such as intro, lead, hook, verse, chorus, etc. I can identify a verse and a chorus, but that's all.
In a typical pop/rock track, what are the different parts called and why?
Dr. V
I purchased a Korg NanoKontrol which I have been using with FL Studio. I have had the product only a few weeks and it periodically stops working. I posted about this unit soon after I received it but the problem has become successively worse.
Since I first had this controller, the sliders...
Do you have any tips on how to learn and what's the best way to practice my drumming?
I'm not a drummer, I don't even have a drumkit... I merely have a standard MIDI keyboard which I use with my pattern sequencing software/ DAW, but I don't have a clue about drums.
I decided to have a go but I...
This sounds like a right dummo request but I am trying to do a cover and I'm stuck. I'm excited about doing it because I believe I can do all the parts except this one bit in the intro. I have spent about three days solid trying to input a few notes in a pattern lasting just 3 seconds and each...
I'm trying to do the bassline for Chaka Khan, Ain't Nobody and I can't make out what notes to play or how to do the rythym on my keyboard. I've scoured the internet for chords for this song, but can only find guitar tabs. When I did find the chords, they are Em and D and those notes aren't...
I'm using it with FL Studio. From time to time, my new Korg Nano Kontroller stops working and I have to open up the MIDI options to rescan the hardware.
I'm not sure where to start looking for the fault - or if anything can be done about it. I assume it's just a weakness with the design of...
Is coming along...
Well, more of a 'recording & mixing corner', really.
From a heap of junk and wires on a desk, I've gone to this...
So far, I've built the cabinet with the sloping desk and set the gubbins inside, with the mixer, keyboard and trackball set flush with the surface along with...
Okay, I've plugged it in, installed all this software and read the manuals... but I still can't work out what to do with this thing.
It's not doing anything. I must have overlooked something. Any suggestions?
In Reaper, how do you play just the part you've selected?
I've tried everything. In Fruity Loops, you just drag out a selection and then the part you've selected plays over and over until you de-select it but I can't work out how to do this in Reaper.
I'm having real trouble lining up the drums I made in FL Studio when I import them into Reaper.
Here's the whole story:
Once I'd made the drum pattern I wanted in FL (in a project called 'DrumMachine.flp), I exported each piece of the kit into my stem folder. I also recorded a complete .wav...
Reaper seems to crash an awful lot and I wondered what other people's experience is like?
I know I've been saying a few things about 'Industry standards myths' lately but I'm beginning to have a few second thoughts... Could a pro really rely on Reaper or is it definitely aimed at an amateur...
Just that. I don't understand how to operate it. What exactly does it do? I'm having a lot of trouble getting my FL Studio intruments into Reaper, so could it be of any use to me?
I've looked up Rewire in Wikipedia but it's just gobbldegook to me. Can anyone explain in plain English...
I was just wondering as I'm getting very interested in Reaper - what actually happens after the trial evaluation period? Does it shut down, cut functionality or just nag you to death?
I've decided to try it because I've read so many good things about it.
If I like it, then I'm happy to cough...
Unless I've misunderstood something, I'm sure I read somewhere in here, someone saying they ran their VSTs on a seperate machine to their tracking DAW...
Now I've been racking my brains to try and understand how one would connect two computers for one to run VSTs and how this would be networked...
But I don't quit my 8-5. I'm completely stuck... Please help?
I am trying to mix a radio play using a DAW. I have loads of VSTs and don't understand how and where to use them.
The project is taking months because everytime I open the project, I look, listen, try out some new VST mastering...
Honestly, I'm getting a bit dissapointed with half the VST plugins I download, thinking/hoping they will answer problems for me for $0.
Of course, I can't tell if it's the VST or something I am doing wrong but...
When I plug my guitar into my tuner, it just works.
When I plug through into...
