    Help with CW9 Wav Files

Help Help Help, Anyone know how to find the associated Wav file for a sound blip used in Cakewalk 9? There's got to be a way to do that, right? (ie - I wanna take the original Wav file recorded in CW and alter it in another program). I can Record numbers and Take numbers but not the actual file...

    Which Mastering/CD writing Programs?

Ok, seems pretty obvious which program I should get - thanks everone for posting!!! Just more one quick question: I downloaded the demo version of Wavelab and am having trouble locating the means by which I can manipulate lead-in track time, or pre-gap time (ie - the negative backwards counter...

    Which Mastering/CD writing Programs?

Hi. Sorry if this has been answered ad nauseum, but I'm totally confused about which mastering programs/CD writing programs to purchase, and if I need both. I am currently using an older version of Sound Forage and a free version Easy CD Creator from Roxio which came with my burner. I need a...

    Midi popping

Thanks so much for answeing. Yes, I am indeed using the internal soundcard's synth, and it appears as though that is indeed the culprit. Looks like I need a new one for my MIDI stuff. Can anyone reccomend something cheap but good? ( I have a Delta 66 I use here for audio) Does the omni come with...

    Midi popping

Sorry if this issue comes up every week here. I'm new to the world of MIDI and this problem is driving me bonkers. For some reason when I play MIDI tracks I occaisionally hear little random pops coming out of the speakers. I do not have this problem when listening to digital audio. The pops seem...

    Outboard gear

Thanks for the replies. I'm wondering if people are happy going the "digital to analog and then back to digital" route? (again, like to an old reverb box or something). I'm thinking about picking up some kind of reverb unit, and while my soundcard supports S/PDiF, I'm not sure outboard digital...

    Outboard gear

A rudimentary question: I have cakewalk 9.3 and a Delta 66 soundcard. I've been recording audio (as opposed to MIDI). Can I use outboard gear (like a reverb box) for mixing? How do I set it up? thanks, steve

    Bouncing loud tracks

Hi again. Qwerty, most will tell you that the best way to track in the digital realm is to get as much signal as possible without peaking. This will yield the fullest signal, best signal to noise ratio, etc. Regardless, this is not really the issue here. Let's say you've got a good mix going...

    Bouncing loud tracks

I'm still sort of a newbie with Cakewalk 9 and this forum, so please excuse if this has been answered several times before. I'm very confused as to how you handle bouncing tracks to create more memory when the tracks in question are too loud and will peak and distort when mixed. Seems if you...

    CDR mastering with lead-ins

Hi. I asked this in the Cakewalk section, but no-one knew so I'll try here. I'm new to the CDR-writing software game... Anyone know how, when writing a CDR, to get/control a lead-in of time (ie - counted backward) before a song starts? Which programs allow you to do this? It would be great to...

    Track Count-in on CDRs

Quick question: When burning a CD, does anyone know of a way to give a track lead-in time (ie - a backwards count-in) before it starts? Can it be done in Sound Forage? Wavelab? Easy CD Creator? Thanks, steve

    From 24 to 16

I know this thread is a little old, but I'm confused about something here... Is truncating where you change the audio format of the CW file (ie - from 24-bit to 16?) If so, how come when I use the L1 to quantize to 16-bits and then change the audio format of the CW file to 16-bits, the latter...

    Help with Midi

Actually, never mind. It appears that this problem occurred while I was using audio that I had altered from 24 bit to 16 bit in CW. Starting from scratch with a 16-bit piece of audio seemed to fix the problem. I have no idea what one has to do with the other, but there you go... steve

    Help with Midi

Hey everyone. I'm a Midi Newbie (capital N) and I'm trying to figure out how to turn some Midi info into digital audio. I have looked at the CW site, and followed their instructions on routing the Midi sounds coming from the soundcard synth through the stereo input of the soundcard and recording...

    Making CDs from 24bit

Thanks. There's definitely something that is preventing CD Creator from burning a 24-bit Wav onto a CD. I'm using version 4.02 How do other people burn CDs - direct from SONAR, or using other programs? Also, I followed your advice and changed the format of the mixed WAV from 24 to 16 in PA9. The...

    Making CDs from 24bit

Hello. A while ago I asked the list what format they liked to record in, and the consensus was that 24 bit 44.1 was the best because you could make CDs directly from these files. I now have a 24-bit track in PA9 ready to go and I can't burn it to CD. I'm using Easy CD Creator after I mix it down...

    Help - recording audio crackles

Looks like the problem was with the latest Delta driver. On a whim I installed the original driver that came with the card and it's working OK so far. I have no idea why that new driver would cause a problem in CW and not in Cool Edit Pro, but there you go... Thanks everyone for your help, steve
