Hello,
Could you guys talk about the vocal techniques of the following singers? Each has their own style of singing, (from nasal to high clear notes). And I was curious if there was a "method" or "style" they are using to get their sound. Sorry, I don't know the names of most of the singers in...
Lately when I sing, I warm up for a while, and then my range is good for about an hour, then things start to get rough. Hard to reach the high notes, etc. Is there any special liquid I should be sipping to coat my throat between songs? Any ideas, tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
1) I'm jammin in a cover band, we will be playing 40 songs a night. My fingers sometimes become "numb" and stiff. Any tips to avoid this from happening?
2) Trying to improve my bass drum skills. I find myself playing with the top part of the foot or toe, and not the whole foot. Is this good or...
Spent the afternoon looking at mastering tools. This Ozone product seems too good to be true. For only a small amount of money you (according to the documentation) can produce professional quality mixes. My question is this, is this thing for real? Their online mastering guide really made the...

Hello,
In a nut shell, I need a good sound card that offers SPDIF in and 2 analog outs for monitoring. No midi needed on the sound card. Already have that covered. I found the M-Audio DiO 2448 here:

This mixer looks sweet for the price. Problem is my sound card doesn't have spdif inputs, just the regular 1/4 in analog. Does the m12 have l/r main analog outs? I know it has the monitor left and right outs, woud I use the monitor l/r to plug into the sound card? (If you respond...) Thanks for...

This Behringer MX1604A Eurorack Compact Mixer is not new but is in NEW condition. Only used a few weeks in my home studio. Upgrading to a larger console. The MX1604 gives you four mono and four stereo channels plus an impressive set of professional features in a compact yet transparent package...
Hi,
I'm overweight, but have an excellent rock voice. Yah, I'm working out and losing the weight, but since I've released some demos locally I'm generating a buzz around town. I've been invited to play at some local clubs. Problem is, my stage presence is not too hot. I'm kinda shy due to my...
I've narrowed my choices down to the following, based on available money and studio needs.

Yamaha MX20/6 16 mono 2 stereo - $750.00 *...
Hello,
Currently I only have a small berhinger mixer, but I need to upgrade to something better.
1) 12 ( or 16) STEREO channel inputs is a must.
2) On board effects (reverb, chorus, etc, would be nice.)
3) Analog
4) Mic inputs / Phantom power is NOT needed.
4) My budget is around $800.00 -...
I need to purchase a new mixer, soon! Please provide any recommendations. Price wise, I'm trying to keep it under $1000.00 if possible.
Analog Mixer:
12-16 STEREO channels. (yes stereo, not 24-32 mono channels)
Eq, and effects on board would be nice.
Right now I'm leaning towards a Behringer...
Here's how I write lyrics:
1) Write a short story about the song, no structure or ryhmes at this point. Just a story, from start to finish.
2) Generate a list of key phrases, key words, from your story.
3) Finally start to think about it as a song. At this point I usually have enough...
Hello,
1)
How would one go about getting radio airplay from an indie production? Indie being me-myself and I making the music. Usually the artist gets royalties for radio play. Or do we just let them play it for free and hope it triggers cd sales?
2)
Say you have enough songs for a cd, you...
Hey,
I've got plenty of good driving music, good vocals, but I suck at lyrics. When cranking out a good rock song, (we're talking in the style of "Fuel" or "Journey - but with an edge..") type stuff. If the music and singing was good but the lyrics were not the greatest would that mess up a...
Which Roland system/module will yield the best guitar sounds? I'm doing some rock music and would love to have some more sounds at my disposal. I'm keeping everything virtual so no comments about hiring a guitar player. :) Thanks...
I'm recording rock music. For straight forward 4/4 rock music should the bass drum and bass guitar always hit a note at the same time? What about the bass, snare, bass guitar? Should the bass guitar always hit a note when the bass drum or snare is hit? Thanks for your thoughts.
I was considering taking one of my songs to a real mastering house just to listen to the results. Problem is, I have no idea how to prepare my music for mastering. It sounds like all they will need to work with is a finsihed stereo track. I add compression, eq, to my final mix all the time. Is...
