How do I get this bass sound?

Any King's X fans out there? I'm trying to get something close to that bass sound, also similar sound to the opening of Pearl Jam's song "Jeremy"....kind of a slightly distorted sound, but I don't think it's distortion...chorus, maybe? Anyone know this sound and how to get something close to...

    lost wavs in mixdown

I've read here that at times, n-track will lose a wav or two when mixing down a song (i.e the mixdown wav will be "missing" a part of the song). Normally when that happens to me, I just mix it down again and the missing wav magically returns, but lately I have one song that loses a wav about 50%...

    Guitar Feedback simulator

Anyone know of a plug-in that simulates distorted gtr feedback? I can't record this "live" for a variety of reasons, so that's not an option... Thanks, -J

    Editing questions

When I copy a wav file in N-track and then paste it, N-track always pastes it into a new track (and directly "below" the copied wav). How do I choose a specific point in the song for the wav file to be pasted? I know this can be done, but I've searched the manual and can't find the answer, so I...

    Mic comparison

For recording vocals in a homerecording (demo) kind of environment, is an inexpensive condenser mic (such as the ECM8000 which someone was mentioning in another forum) going to give me any better quality than the (dynamic) SM58 I already own? Thanks, J

    Plug-Ins

Can anyone recommend an EQ plug-in (other than Flavio's) that is known to be compatible with N-Track? I'd prefer a graphic EQ plug-in... Other than hitsquad.com, where is a good place on the net to search for plug-ins? -J

    CD-R question

I'm using Nero to burn 2 songs to a CD-R, total about 8 minutes. Is there a way that I can later burn another song onto the same CD-R , then another until the entire CD-R is "used up"? As of now, Nero won't let me do this (I forget the message it's giving me), even though the "finalize CD" box...

    panning guitars in mix

In mixing heavy guitars, I know from using the search function on this bbs that most people recommend 2 basic techniques (with slight variations): 1. record two guitar parts, pan one hard left, one hard right and EQ/add effects a bit differently to distinguish; 2. copy one recorded guitar...

Please suggest software for wav conversion

Can anyone suggest a very easy-to-use software to burn wav files to CD in audio format? I tried the latest Adaptec program but there is apparently a problem due to the fact that I'm running XP, so I'm particularly interested in what other XP users can recommend... Thanks in advance, -J

    Stereo wav to mono?

I spent the better part of this weekend tracking bass and guitar parts, with the intention of recording each track in mono so it could be panned as necessary later. Unfortunately (and I don't know why this happened - anyone? Bueller?) about half of the tracks I recorded came out as stereo wav...

    clipping problem

I just began today to record guitar using n-track - I had only been importing wavs from Fruity Loops up to this point. I recorded several tracks and was careful to prevent clipping. When each track is played individually, ther are no clips. But when the whole mix is played, there are several...

Connecting to sound card from J-station

I want to make sure I'm doing this right...the J-Station has a mono 1/4" output and my sound card has a stereo 1/8" line in. Do I need anything other than a cord with the proper ends (1/4" mono and 1/8" stereo) to connect this (i.e. does it matter that the signal is starting as mono but coming...

    Another Fruity Loops question

In the eternal quest to get better sounding acoustic drums in FL, I've downloaded several files in .wav format. How do I "import" them into FL so that I can actually use them? It appears that .wav may not be the proper format for this. Can anyone walk me through the process? Thanks in advance...
