Whis measurement is this? - "1 MS/s" I saw it on a brochure for some digital recorder - but no measurements in khz anywhere in the literature.
Is this higher than normal?
Silly me.
Since I had to get a new mac for home business anyway,
I thought that a Focusrite Saffire firewire interface would sound good.
Wrong.
I'm returning it today.
The converters killed much of the stereo space and headroom.
What is interesting is that I use the old Digidesign 882 interface...
I'm thinking about getting one.
I see reviews from people who use it with digital recorders, but nobody from tape days.
Does this help mixdown from tape to digital?
Any particular model you know about?
I need to improve the lows in the mix.
Thanks ...

Dude, please someone buy this and tell us all about it.
Dreaming now ...
Otari 1/2 inch 8 track.
I spend time cleaning everything and the insides - but darn callibrating - i need help.
I'm going to end yp calling a pro if I can't get it together - any suggestions?
I'm fear something will break if i don't.
I looked for this in the archive but I couldn't find it.

Is it better to post a link to the mp3?
or

I think my bass track is too wooshy, and my bass guitar is a total piece of crap.
Any suggestions on how I can get a better bass sound from this thing?
Thanks,
Jerry
Is anybody still using the old digidesign session 8 software?
I notice how simple it is to use because it is so basic, no plugin processing, just 8 tracks of audio recording and playback.
The 882 i/o interface box is 8 balanced TRS i/o plus SPDIF i/o at 16 bit. Still sounds good after all...
On my 1/2 inch reel to reel the input signal is somehow getting picked up on track 5 when I record to track 4 or track 6.
I don't arm the track so it doesn't go to tape, but I can see the level being duplicated on track 5 and I think something is wrong.
It only does it when I am in SEL/REPRO...
I just saw on Discovery Wings that Robert Lear who developed the first business jets wanted music in his planes so he helped develop the 8track cartridge which was later adapted for cars and homes.
OK here I am. Analog newbie here. Here's the deal for the experts to help me with:
I have an Otari 1/2 inch 8 track, the MX5050III.
I got it on Ebay in January, only the third owner, whoever had took excellent care of it. Recorded "Arriving" and "Heartstrings" on it so far...
Maybe its because I'm trying this out on my 56k modem but Acidplanet sounds better than Soundclick.
On the Acidplanet site it sounds thicker, and I'm just playing the WMA file, not the download.
On Soundclick it sounds thinner.
Am I doing something wrong, maybe not using the right mp3 play...
Recorded on ADAT if anyone cares. Had to use a bunch of focusrite EQ's to warm the sound. A bass sonic maximizer on the kick drum. I don't like how it seems you have to sqeeze the signal into the digital recording unit.
