I actually took yall advice to heart - please have a listen

Hi all, thanks for your comments! @wtfuhz: yeah, unfortunately I noticed the clipping only later :( I'll leave that be for now. @Robus: could you perhaps indicate those parts? By for instance a starting and ending time? I'm not sure which synth parts you mean. @D-toks: I'll admit that I...

I actually took yall advice to heart - please have a listen

Recently I've been making a few EDM tracks, and apparently I've been using the maximizer tool a bit too much. You fine folks pointed that out in my previous post. And your comments opened my ears :D Yes, it was squashed, bereft of any dynamics and quite frankly, not very nice to listen to. So! I...

At last, a new track. Laid back mix of various styles.

Thanks all for your kind comments. I may not remix this particular track, but I'll definitely ease down on the maximizer on the next one!

Thanks! Yeah i used a maximizer on the master bus. Perhaps I overdid it? I'll take your advice to heart and start with the raw tracks, no maximer (or only very little). Thanks!

Friend of mine had some nice guitar chords, recorded them, loaded them in a sampler, and this laid back track was the result :) https://soundcloud.com/mysticnetherlands/casual-sioux I tried to make it sound 'warm', if that makes any sense. Did I succeed?

    Ultra commercial dance

Thanks all. Btw, the compressor is supposed to pump, compared to some of the modern commercial dance tunes out there I'd say my tune is quite mild. It's a style-specific element by now.

    Ultra commercial dance

Listening now on the laptop speakers, it feels like some of the sounds that are in the higher frequency regions are too loud? SoundClick artist: Krisis2008 - page with MP3 music downloads

    Commercial R&B/dance/rock/Gospel

Anyone with an ear for how things 'should' sound from a commercial perspective?

    Commercial R&B/dance/rock/Gospel

Does this sound radio-friendly and commercial enough? http://soundcloud.com/mysticnetherlands/trouble-warning No weird freaky metal this time, but straight up radio-friendly shizzle :) Let me know what yall think! Any nitpicking on mix? Composition? The vocals I downloaded as is, so I can't do...

    "Negation 2"

Agree with Greg. Having said that. I think as a semi-improv semi-composition it's rather cool, although some of the more traditional lead guitar work is a bit boring, to my ears and brains at least. I like the drum work a lot, and both the riffs and dynamics are quite nice. The sound and mix...

"Diet of Worms Revisited" - Carrousel of Life

Top Gun, haha, now there's a connection I didn't make myself. Thanks for the comment :)

    Chapman - Heat's mix

Beatles meets The Carpenters, in a slowed-down and trippy way, I like it. Very nice arrangement, very nice drums as well!
