That looks Awesome !!!

I can't believe the height you have in there, thats great.

Ya I am trying to decide how much height to keep in the control room.
It's too much as is. The main room is going to be the full height that I can keep. I am guessing at 15 feet or so. I don't think I want anything over 10 feet for the rest of the rooms (voc booth, Drum room). For our drummer I will record in the main room and Isolate the guitar amp, run bass direct or isolate, etc.

I want a drum room for other bands.

Any advice on celing heights would be great.

9.5 ft for the control room?? maybe 10???

My uneducated advice would be to do some kind of analysis of the dimensions with one of those handy free programs you come across on here, and go with that as your CR height.

I'd be thinking a drop cieling with adjustible/ tuneable bass trapping options above the drop.

Best wishes for continued good luck, FS. I was so glad to see this turn around for you. I stumbled on a great house for recording too-- but it was the space that got me into recording, rather than recording that got me into the space.

Pics of mine. I guess if I actually ever get any good at this, I'll convert the downstairs to a live room...

Thanks man.

Ya we were amazed when we heard.
We are writing a check for the ernest money today;)

Here's what will be the control room / vocal booth area. Our agent to the left.
It's hard to get a shot of the main room. I am taking these pictures from the main room.
Not shure now big I am going to make the control room. Probably a bit larger than the beadroom I am using now so that I can have more seating.

F.S.

Luck-EEEE :(

Congrats mang!!!! My basement only has 7 foot ceilings... and a furnace stuck smack in the middle...

But it's my domain in the house and it's dry (most of the year) :o

Can't wait to see yours when you're done!

:)

Thanks Bent & Obi.

I had one contractor in today. Figured out that the lowest I can bring the ceiling in the control room and booths is 9 feet because of window hieght in a couple booths. Trying to balance what has to be done with the main house verses what I want to do with the basement is the shits because basicly everything this guy did him self needs redone. He built a movie room ran one curcuit to it with no ground.?.? There is alot of wierd things he did. When you write them all down it seems almost insurmountable. Sort of takes the wind out of you. Fixing things in this nieghborhood and bringing up the value ain't cheap either. Were talking re-flooring with real hardwood. Granit counter tops, etc, etc.

Put your isolation ceiling as high as possible. Hang baffles that are a couple feet tall all across the ceiling. Add a cloth ceiling at 9.5'

Go Frood Dood - The best thing is that this will allow you to make more GREAT music. You're not going to lapse into houseness while the works being done are you?

Will you promise me you'll get a lava lamp or four? Ok how about one, just a glitter one to start off with, ya a glitter lamp, you won't have to go any further then that, just the one won't hurt. I promise, you can have one and stop at one, no big deal really, everyone is doing it, you'd really be a fool not to have just one.

Thanks Texroadkill:) By the way I was wondering if you have anything else up from your new place. I have your set of "judas" and really like it. Did you do a finished version?

Thanks Ray! Well I am already too busy to do much recording. We are putting our current home on the market and that requires me removing much of the treatment from the walls. I also have to patch the wall where a snake was running through. Stuff like that.

I can still do small projects though, if I can find the time.

It will be worth it all in the end:D

Well maybe I could just use one on the weekends;)

FS - keep your ceilings at 10ft. ;) Mine in the CR are 9ft 9in. I tried for the 10ft mark, but needed some space up above. ;)

Cool. Well I have plenty of room to make the CR as tall as I want. I just don't want to reate a situation where I am working against it and it just costs me more in treatment. This control room is going to be enormus! I just had another contractor in the other day. It's looking like I will likely only get the live room finished likely at the moment. I've decided to go premo on the upstairs to make the value on the house really jump. I can always pull more money later. It won't take me too long though;)

Sounds like your on your way...... Now just make sure to take time at the end of the day to snap pictures as it unfolds and keep us updated. Watchin Studio builds is too cool. ;)

Gonna try to take pic's. First I have to redo upstairs so we can move in.

I've lived in the same house for 30 years. I finally decided to put a bid on another place. With the way houses are or should I say not selling I decided
I will keep them both for 2 or 3 more years. I guess I'm jumping the gun since I
don't plan on putting my bid in till tomorrow.

It has a couple really nice rooms that would be great for a studio across the back of the house. There is even a walk in closet in the finished basement it looks like it may have been designed as a vocal booth.

The house is begging for a deck ; but it's got 3 acres and is out in the sticks.

Very Cool! Where are you located?

Looks like it had a deck. or at least it was in the plans.

F.S.

FS, it's in MI.

It never had a deck it is a redone ranch. The guy did some excellent work and used high quality stuff and everything he did. I think I counted 32 Anderson windows and some really nice tile work in the bathrooms. Even the attached and detached garage has Andersons.

It is a bank repo, I feel for the guy because it looks like he busted his butt and spent a lot of time on it.
