Thanks Andydeedpoll
Congrats! don't forget about that cristal&pole dancers housewarming party now!
Thats a party I want to attend.
FS as far as what I did for sound isolation....I too live in the neighborhood that isnt the best for being able to disrupt people. I have a doctor who lives only about 20ft away from the Studio and he works crazy hours, so that was taken into consideration with the build.
What I did from the outside in (in this order) was:
** Vinyl Siding (maybe not the best choice due to potential vibration, but after I ran into a bad situation with Hardy Stucco panels, I went to/with vinyl siding (plus it matched the house). I figure if the sound isnt dead enough by that stage, then I have bigger problems to worry about.

next
** 2 layers of 5/8 exterior sheeting covered with Tyvek
** Exterior framing 2X6 walls
** R-19 unfaced insulation in those 2X6 walls (went unfaced so there wasnt another leaf in the system)
** About a 3" air gap
** Then framed another 2X4 wall (the room within the room - M-A-M theory) and made sure it was TOTALLY uncoupled (does not touch anywhere except the 6" concrete floor which I also totally insulated underneith the concrete)
** Then insulated the 2X4 walls as well with faced insulation (which will go against the drywall) so there is a vapor barrier in the system as required/requested by codes. (this now gives about a foot of total insulation within the walls)
** Then I bought Quiet Puddy and totally encased every switch and outlet box in the whole room
** Then I am putting up 2 layers of 5/8 drywall everywhere with Green Glue between all the sheets on the walls and ceiling.
** The back wall will not have 2 layers of drywall, but instead 1 layer, then Green Glue and Plywood over top as the 2nd layer, then I will be putting up stone covering that complete wall. This should help with sound dispursement I hope.

** Then I will paint the walls
** Finally I ordered 96 - 1ft squares of aurlex absorbers and corner traps and I will install them as the room calls for them (as needed / if needed) as well as in the control room area.
So,,,,this is how I built the room, and who knows how well it will work until its done. If it does not work, after all this, I will probably just stand there and laugh, then go make a Captain and Coke and go ask the neighbors how much they like music?
The most tricky part of the build was the room within the room build, and keeping it totally uncoupled so there is no flanking. The interior room was able to be moved by pushing on it while only framed since it was only anchored at the floor. Yesterday I removed the braces which I added to stability, and it is now sturdy. The drywall does the trick stiffening it up. Codes Department had a field day with this build as well. They thought building a studio was cool. I passed all inspections with flying colors and had to make zero changes in order to pass. That was a good thing.
Anyway, with your new house, just go the extra mile in making it right. I think you'll be happy you did when its complete as I hope I am with mine.

(wonder if I can talk the wife into a new SSL digital console under the "go the extra mile theory"?

lol
Stay safe
