I'm just beginning Cakewalk and I can't find the 'tutorial1.wrk' file ...or any other tutorial for that matter. When I start Cakewalk, it tells me to go to open files, and open Tutorial1.wrk. All I see in there is Drum Rhythms, Picture Cache and WaveData. Where could it be? Thanks Robin

I want to setup a demo recording station in my new apartment soon but I'm not sure if I'll go analog or hard-disk... If I decide analog, I was thinking of acquiring an 8-track reel-to-reel as the console for a start (Otari? Tascam? other?). But would like suggestions on good mixers, mic-pres...

is it the tubes that make the sound?

I'm a devout classicist and I've been reading up a bit on tubes. I'm wondering if it's truly the tubes that gives the amp ergo the instrument it's sound/character. Also, why do some amps have more tubes in the back than others.

aligning, demagnetizing, and cleaning...how long does it take? ...how long does this all take on your average professional analog recorder before a day's session? ...does it depend on the number of tracks? A lot of engineers today prefer digital simply because they're sick of doing these...

do garages make the BEST studios?

On a small-to-medium budget, if you bought a house with a few big rooms but the garage is the biggest, would THAT be the best place to record?...even though the ceiling may not be as high? Also, it seems like they would be easier to reconstruct (ceiling, door) than the house itself, except for...
