anyone tried old Western Electric Tubes?

these tubes are a very hot item(s) on Ebay. My brother was telling me about them at Christmas.

I wouldn't mind hooking up my guitar or keyboard to these things and hear what they sound like...

Most of that old Western Electric stuff is of collector/vintage status, for audio applications (and theatres etc). It's really expensive for this reason, and probably doesn't sound THAT GREAT for keys or guitar.

It might sound cool for a little 'flavour' here and there. Most of this gear is low power, class A, through speakers with field coil magnets.

Some 50's tube PA amps sound cool for keys. I have a 50's Stromberg Carlson pa-amp that sounds spanky for an electric piano, clavinova or vibraphone sound.
