I got some advice from H2H on duplicating the vocal track, compressing it heavily around 12 db adding eq between 8-16k, boosting at about 7db to start then de-essing to take away any harshness. I am not achieving what I am supposed to with this good advice. The sound is still kind of harsh when...
Well it has been frustrating trying to get that nice full sound from the vocals tracks. My ap is mixing vocals into pre recorded audio (karaoke) I have been able to lay the vocals in the mix pretty good, but I cannot get that rich full sound on the vocals that you hear on the pro CD's. They...
Hey Ed aka Sonus. I read a previous thread from you on not being afraid to use 3 db of gain reduction with a compressor when recording vocals to digital. I liked your view on the reason for attack and release times which were different from others viewpoints I have read. It makes sense. Anyway...
I would like to know what some of the key frequencies are for cutting and boosting different instruments. I know that there is a large band range to be covered out there, but I have read a few articles where engineers say " If I want a little more fullness to the lower end of someones vocals...
I just recorded a friend of mine and I was having to place her vocals on different tracks due to the fact that her signal during the lower passages was drastically different than when she sung the chorus. This way I could keep the gain signal under control. Is there others ways to combat this...
Ok I have just laid a vocal track over pre-recorded audio (Karaoke) And I have a pretty good mix going on. I'm sure the music has been already mastered by a professional. But my track of vocals has not. Is there a way to hotten up the signal of the new music/vocal mix through mastering to make...
I would like to know if I could damage a capacitor microphone (Apex 450) which has it's own power supply in using it along side an AKG 535 condenser mic which requires phantom power. My board is the Behringer 802 A which has phantom power. I want to use them both while stereo miking an acoustic...
My application is to track vocals over pre-recorded audio (Karaoke). God I hate that word! Love to sing but don't like the word. My concern is that the music is already mixed and mastered. Is there any thoughts on problems I might incur by introducing new audio to that music . What about adding...
Is it better to track and acoustic guitar with 2 of the same condenser mics in stereo x/y or a more expensive tube capacitor mic upright in mono tracked twice panned left and right? If I'm not making any sense go easy on me..... Ah hell... let her rip and tear a strip off me... if it's lets the...
I just purchased an Apex 450 single vacuum tube Capacitor mic for laying down the main vocal tracks. Any words on this microphone... good/bad. Anyone experienced using one before. They are fairly new as far as I know.
Thanks People,
Dave
Being a real Newbie it would be good to know which software has the easier learning curve as well as good technical support. Don't mind spending the money if I can get up and running properly.
