I just purchased an Apex 450 single vacuum tube Capacitor mic for laying down the main vocal tracks. Any words on this microphone... good/bad. Anyone experienced using one before. They are fairly new as far as I know.

Thanks People,
Dave

A friend of mine has a 430 and a 420, he likes them alot but he dosn't have anybetter mics right now to compare them to. I'm getting him to bring me back a pair of the 430's when he comes home for march break. He got me a really good deal on them.

I haven't heard much about the 450. Please give us some feedback on it. Maybe in a year or two when I have some extra money I might pick one up for my studio.

I've got a 450 here. I like it alot, but it definately has it's own sound. I bought it with the intent to use it as a main vocal mic, but find that we're using the Rode NTK alot more. One area I've found the Apex to really shine is in the low end. It sounds great on low male vocals, and we've had great success micing acoustic bass with it.
