I'm an amatuer home recordist (which will probably be the answer to my question) and I've alsways used cool edit/audition... it seems to do everything I need and a whole lot of stuff that I don't understand... there are a lot of other programs ouut there too though... cubase, protools , logic, etc... apart from the midi side of things why does the industry only use these programs and never audition....they don't seem to teach it in any colleges either?

I use Audition 2.0. The only things that I would like it to do is better midi, VSTi, and side-chain support.

The main thing is side-chain but there is a way around it with SideKickV3 plugin.

I get crummy lags in CE 2.1 and Audition 1.5. I wish it wouldn't do that.

That's what I used to say.

Here's a couple reasons:

  • MIDI support
  • VSTi support
  • 24-bit recording

Now that I use Reaper I ask myself this same question. Except I haven't thought of an answer yet. ;)

24-bit recording? Whatchoo talkin bout? Cool Edit and Audition record in 24-bit. My file sizes tell me so.
