I use these and LOVE 'em....great for overheads being just cymbals, but also great for more open drum micing being cymbals and the rest of the kit..I've found them punchy....
Depending on the kit and drummer/style, I waffle between MC-012's (darker, rounder) and AT4033's (more detail but can be too much on thicker, harsher cymbals).
Sorry, but I can't find the reciept for my ECM8000s and I've forgotten which web-site audio company it was sold them to me.They are still well worth it at $40 though, useful for anything you want to record that requires a mic with a pretty flat response.
Thanks for checking Tom. I decided to go with a pair of the ECM 8000's for now and I'll wait till the C4 comes out and I get some opinions on it before I look into buying SD's. I'm just dying to fill my locker!. I could always just save that 300.00 for paying for my 001... BUT where's the fun in that!? HEhe...
I too have decided to go for the 8000's. My father in-law likes the price and I like that they're omnis as I have the drums in a good live room. I also am looking to start filling my "locker" and have tons of time to pick up other useful mics in the future. Thanks to everyone for all your help...
