What's wrong with me?

Decided I have to go with new tubes for my TSL. I should've done so as soonas I'd bought it (second hand) but I really think it's starting to exhibit some signs of microphonicity and the overall output volume doesn't seem loud. Well, loud, but not 60 watt valve loud. Pretty pissed off.

I don't mind solid states amps clean, but solid state distortion is generally crap.

If you use distortion lightly you can get an okay sound, but it just doesn't have it when you crank up the gain. It's like, some kind of drill filing into your head, or the buzz of a swarm of the thousand flies.
