My Music Man Sterling.
Black body, black pick guard, maple neck.
It's pure eye candy.

The tone isn't 100% what I look for in a bass, but it's a funk monster and the neck feels just wonderful.

Yes, it is. I have no idea what else you have, but unless you have a 1930's Martin D-45, that is the coolest guitar you own. No question about it. Cool guitar.

Nope. No '30s Martin. I do have a '50s Martin, signed by Tommy Emmanuel. It's pretty cool too.

That's a dead ringer for my 1955 000-18. Without a signature of course.

I'm not sure if this is the coolest guitar I own, buts it's the most unique...

It's a 1968 (?) Eko "Electra Ranger" acoustic/electric. Dig the volume & tone knobs on the front. The pickup is at the bottom of the neck. Since it feeds back like crazy (as well as not really sounding terribly acoustic) I added a Fishman soundhole p/u.

It's made in Italy, which I don't think of as exactly the guitar capital of the world, but when you think about it, they have been building quality instruments there for several centuries. This sucker is heavier than my strat in it's case, but has excellent tone. I bought it around 1980 for $100 and never regretted it.

Coolest is the 65 Jaguar....the neck is perfect...the 11's play like 09's....

The 56 P-bass is very cool....it weighs about 6 lbs.original bridge, complete with rust...have the original p/u...its open... it has a Fender 51 RI custom shop on it now....not a lot of difference in tone...boat neck...play it every weekend.

The early MIJ Strat is aging just like the 4 L series I've owned so its got vibe and cool...

From a pawn shop in Kansas, I bought a 1961 LesPaul...traps,Gibson Vibrola,engraved on the tailpiece cover..Custommade for R.G....P-90's..
sold it for a heafty profit...spent the profit...have no neato guitar.....arrrgh

1965 P-bass...completely stock...it sounds like.....uhhh...Motown.

Had a 61 Tele...played in a top 40 band...it was almost microphonic...ya couldnt use effects with it...(why would you want to) sold it for a 'usable' working guitar....pleez hurt me...

I could spend an hour talking about the 4 "L" series strats...the Inca Silver one was an exceptional guitar...it had turned kinda purplish green....it played itself...this is too hard to talk about Im gonna go drink now...gooBye

it appears that Light has discovered yet more evidence of alien visitation with that scroll work thing......

did I mention the 1964 EB-2?

How about the FIRST Dan Armstrong Fretless bass west of the Mississippi

Or the 1973 Fretless P-bass? (uh, first year for those) I bought it new.

okay thats enough...dont ask about the frickin amps....

The Gibson is cooler, but that is just my opinion. I also see a couple hundred Vintage Martins a year, though, so my perspective is a little sceewed. It is like my friend Pete, who is a world class colector of archtops, came in one day to show off his Silvertone Airline. He was so used to the $10,000 and up archtops, he was just excited as hell over this $199 pawnshop special. You get a little jaded.

I'd definitely have to go with my 2003 Gretsch 6120 Nashville. It's a fairly new finish called Amber Stain. It's not only gorgeous to look at, it's the most versatile guitar I've ever owned.

I'll post a photo, as soon as I can figure out how to post one.
I've looked at the FAQ page and I'm not really good at html stuff, so any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jimmy

My '62 Fender "P" bass that was given to me by the drummer in "The Kingsmen"

My Gibson double neck 1275 is probebly the coolest I owned

The coolest guitar I have is a factory made Roland ready Strat with a rosewood neck. It plays through a synthesizer for modeling and screams through my red knobbed Twin. It is definitely cool to be playing organ and lead guitar simultaneously from one instrument.

i've been contemplating getting the roland pickup installed in one of my parkers. i saw a guy do that with only the midi pickup in place (so the front of the guitar doesnt have that ugly bulky unit attached to it). all the controls were internal. i would probably control it with a floorboard anyways.

too tempting...

i have a 3 way tie for my 3 favorite guitars.
1) ESP Horizon custom in metallic purple(neck thru, binding, etc). awesome color, awesome looking and playing guitar. its a friggin tank. my first good guitar, will never sell it ever.

2) Ibanez USA custom. it was a bolt-on RG-style guitar with a black body and no pickguard. the front was painted white and had some pencil sketch graphic drawing of some druids in a boat on a lake in the wilderness. the water reflected the scene. awesome artistic piece... didnt sound or play as good as the ESP so i sold it.

3) Parker Fly Supreme. i got this guitar as a (VERY generous) gift from a family member. tiger striped flamed on the top and sides, black elsewhere. it plays and sounds great. it has awesome clarity and sustain. i will never get rid of this one either. i've also got a silver parker that i am pretty attached to, but its nowhere near as cool. i've also got a gold one that i plan on offing... maybe for a dark grey one. :)

For pure function, my Taylor 710CE. For ambience, My old Gibson. I never have found out what the model # was, but it was early 60's vintage, ES335 style body, sunburst, with one dog-eared P90, no center block, tune-o-matic bridge, finish-checked like a mother, first 7 frets worn to the fingerboard (I replaced them). Why, Oh why, did I ever sell that guitar? My ass is dented from the number of times I've kicked myself there.-Richie

I am reasonably sure that Parker makes a Roland ready guitar, which uses the piezos in the bridge to drive the Roland stuff.

I saw Reeves Gabrel at a record realease show for a solo album he put out when I was in Boston (where he lives), and he had a GR-33 Roland guitar synth on his Parker, and it sounded amazing. He never had any of the tracking problems I have with mine. I asked him after the show how long he had been practicing with the thing to get used to it, and he said, "Oh that, I just bought that today." I could've killed him, except his wife was right there, and that would have been bad form. Shortly afterwards, he started using the VG-8 with Bowie for the Earthlings album, and had Ken Parker build him a guitar which only used the magnetic pickups to drive a Fernandes Sustainer.
