What strings do you use?

Now I use D'Addario PB's on my 12-string. Many eons ago, when I was in college, I used a brand called "Nashville Straights"--the strings weren't coiled and the box was straight. Alvarez attempted a similar packaging concept called "Long Johns." Great sounding strings, but not practical for packing around spares.

Acoustic - D'Addario EJ17.

Electric - EB Super Slinkeys.

May have to try some 10's after reading some of the posts here. It appears as though many of you think they give a better tone than the 9's.

I use Dean Markley most of the time. Face it after about 20hrs of play time any string is shot to hell. When I played music for a living I changed strings 2 or 3 times a week. It is just a cost of doing business.

I don't know if they are still made, but I used Peavey Strings for a while and thought they were very good.

If I could afford them I would use Pyramid Strings ..... I think that they are the best and longest lasting.

I am very random with strings. Most of the time I use very thin electric strings on the hohner with a thicker bottom E. It seems to retain some tension when I keep it tuned down to Bs and As. I'm not to selective when it comes to the brand. But I usually use Ernie Ball or d' addario. :)

DR 11's or Ernie Ball on my electrics.
Elixir on acoustics.
Pyramids or GHS flat wound on bass.
;)

While the OP doesn't seem to like them I love my EB's, 11's or 12's 1/2 step down depending on scale length of the guitar. Change them about twice a year and in 14 years have never broken one... guess I got all the good packs!

I've used just about every brand over the past 20+ years I've been playing and right now D'Adarrio's(9-42)They don't break easily.

I've played ernie ball and I've had them break after using them for 1/2 hour, I've used Fender bullets and had the bullet end pop off when using my tremelo, (on a Fender Mustang, there's not much tension there!) The most balanced set I've used is Gibson vintage. Every string had the same amount of bend, very comfortable to play, but I can't find them anywhere anymore. I've actually thought about creating my own set but I haven't had the time to buy individual strings and try it out.

Augustine Blue on classics and Aranjuez Gold on my flamenco guitar, mainly because I've never been convinced by any of the flamenco strings I've tried. Anybody found a good flamenco string?

Tried a bunch of different brands over the years. I like Ernie Ball best. I use the Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms (.10-.52) or Beefy Slinky (.11-.056). Tons of sustain and tons of "heaviness".
