I know that every musician writes songs in a very different way, some rely more on intuition, while others take a more
"mathematical" approach. It’s truly unique how everyone composes music... if you look at the details, it’s clear that we all have very distinct processes when it comes to songwriting. And as for inspiration, well, people seek that out in different ways, too: some wait for a muse, some just experiment within their DAW, and others might watch a film and suddenly get an idea. I thought, what’s the strangest thing that has ever inspired me to write a song? After giving it some thought, I realized it was the planet Coruscant from Star Wars lolol which inspired me to write the song "the city is under control".

Now, I’m curious,
What's the strangest thing that has inspired YOU to write music?

I wrote a song based on an ILove Lucy episode
Music was ai generated on this one as we were never gonna record this and I thought a female vocal would suit it better.

In the dim and distant past, I once had a work colleague who would happily unburden herself of the dramas in her life to me. In one instance she told me about the presumptiousness of one of her boyfriends who came to her door with his trousers round his feet and everything on display. This and a dream she once had, formed the basis for 'Anklepants'.

I once wrote a song about the Betty and Barney Hill "alleged" alien abduction

I wrote it to send a "secret message" in the lyrics to all mankind...unfortunately, they didn't get the memo. :laughings:

Ah poor Barney Hill, let his mind get lost with his sweet wife Betty
Lonely was the road they were on
In a minute the Hills would be ready
Enter humans the test has begun
No one will ever know you've been examined
By the boys from the other side of the sun
Elements here seem quite alike
If this is a joke, it's not one I like screamed Barney
Natural resources seem to be quite drained
Green men from Mars what in the hell is your game
Silly humans
Extraterrestrials
Xenium eyes
Isometric ties
Sewn by the pyramids
Too bad we're just not on the same level
