What strings do you use?

i like D'addario on all my geetars.

i've tried a few different strings, always went back to the d'adds

i've tried d'addario strings mu*tip*e times and never *iked them. boomers for e*ectric and martin sps for acoustic here. i wi** have to check out those b*ue stee*s.

I'm a big fan of whichever set costs $2.

For my bass, I'll put up with even crappier strings if they're cheap!

I like Elixir for recording because I like the sound. Not overly bright with a fresh set and they retain their tone longer than non-coated strings. When I used to play live it was usually D'Addario and I would solder the ball ends (for a Kahler trem).

Fuck all you prissy boys with your name brand strings. I made my first guitar out of igneus rocks and dinnerware, goddamnit, and strung it up with muscle sinew from a dead dear. The sumbitch wailed in a way that made Jesus weep.

As Gertrude Stein once may or may not have said: "A string is a string is a string." Don't get too hung up on the details, just play the things.

I have been a Blue Steel user for awhile now. They just last so long and sound/feel great.

I would have thought sedimentary rocks would have been easier to fashion into shape.
Hey, you may be able to sell that thing on ebay as 'vintage' and get enough money for a box of decent strings.

:D .

i usually use EB's myself...yea, they lose their tone after a little while, but in my experience it's usually not until they've been played fairly heavily

I thought about starting a new thread, but why do that when I can recycle?

I use GHS, simply because of familiarity, but it seems D'Addario are much more "popular" around here....

I buy whatever regular gauge strings are on sale for practice and gigging out. For recording, I use D'Addario XL nickle wound (10-46).

DR Pure Blues all the way for electric. GREAT strings.

Elixirs or Martin SPs for my acoustics.

On electric, I use D'Addario Nickel XL110's most of the time, but I also like the Gibson Vintage strings when I can find them. On acoustic, my preferred brand is definitely John Pearse phosphor bronze mediums. For my nylon string I like D'Addario Pro Arte normal tension as I like the unwound G-String.

EB 11's on my semi-hollow and EB 10s on my solid body.

...Fucker.

After playing my basses with Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats, a friend decided to try TI guitar strings on his axes. He put a set of .012 bronze strings on his Martin and it improved the sound. He also strung up a Martin electric (not kidding: a 1978 EB18) but it needed some electronic work so we don't know for sure yet.

I've been using D'Addario electric mediums on my LP (.011-.049, wound 3rd) but I'll probably go to TI '012s soon.

Resonators get Martin Bluegrass Resonators (.016-.056) and they rule the reso world. I have so far strung up two wood body Dobros, a '30s Regal and an Epiphone Biscuit with them, and they sound great (and loud) on everything.

Back to the TI Jazz Flats for bass: the two of us have 6 basses between us, with a total of around 60 years of playing, and ALL the basses now have TIs. They are expensive ($54/set) but they last for years, and sound better than any others we have tried.

D'Addario most of the time. My acoustics all have Phosphor Bronze lights (EJ-16s), except for one short scale guitar with mediums ( EJ-17s) which I wish I could string with heavies (EJ-18s), but they would ruin the guitar. The 12-string gets lights (EJ-38s).

For electrics, I use lights for everything. I always used to use EXL110s, but I've been experimenting lately (and liking) D'Addario's pure nickle wrap strings (EPN110) and Ernie Balls version of the same (2251).

I used to use much heavier strings on my electrics, but I've got some pretty serious hand problems and light strings are the only way I can play for any length of time any more.

i tried some Les Paul nickle wound .009's when i first got my goddess and i liked them so much i haven't even tried anything else for her. but i used to use d'addario's and the blue steels. i like the les pauls better.

Just tried my first set of EB's on my 7. They're not bad but I sure miss the different colored ball ends on my tuning pegs!!!
