I need help with the start and end points. I mastered some songs, and each one had extra stuff at the beginning and end that I don't want on my CD. I attempted to set the start and end points as mentioned on page 82 of the manual (in order to chop unwanted stuff off both the beginning and end) .The result when played back is: the first section of the song that I want is cut, and the ending section of the song repeats itself. What did I do wrong? Please help this beginner undo this mess!!

You may have to remaster. If you'd hit UNDO before doing any more recording, then you would have been OK to try again.

I don't understand that section of the manual regarding the setting of start/end points. Here's what I do... Either move/paste tracks 1-6 to half a second from the 00:00:00 start time, or just move/paste 7/8 after bounce-down, but prior to mastering. Then, when you hit record/stop during the mastering process the start/end points will be set accordingly.

There are other ways, perhaps even better, but the method above is very easy and it works... If you move/paste 6 tracks keep in mind this could take the VF80 a while to complete because there's a ton of material being moved. Let the LCD say "completed" before moving on to another step.

Thanks for the reply.

To clarify one thing....when you master for example a 3 minute song, but you only need the middle minute......you hit record when you want it to start mastering (for example the "middle" minute, and then STOP)......then it is normal for the mastered tracks to contain the entire 3 minutes? Thanks again for answering.

You can just set up the machine after the first minute, then hit record/play. Having done that, the Master will only be the material you had between REC/PLAY and STOP.

But if it was me, I'd erase the first minute on each individual track, move paste the good section to half a second from 00:00 and then bouncedown from there...
