Very new at this !!!

I have recently purchased the N-Track program for the intentions to mix some MP3's that i have got from several sites and mix them into a (hopefully) good cd. My music of choice is Trance and Progessive House. I'm trying to get the basic's down but it seems like a never ending list of choices and options. It is all Chinese to me. I play around with it as much as i can until i go dizzy. I am reading up on sites on how to mix but my problem is at the beginning. I can't seem to find any instruction for the real beginners. I would be happy with just getting the crossfade down and the BPM to match. Anyone have a good place to start? Also, I have the PCDJ program. At first i thought this would be able to mix, edit and record. Just what i figured out is that is used if you want to have your own jam session and impress your friends. I would love to get to the level where i can do this. So what i'm saying is, Is PCDJ only good for this?

Ok that's it for now, hope you all can help. I am patient and willing to learn but need some direction.

Hi Pez! Welcome to the board.

N-track is a wonderful program, but I'm not sure if it is the right program for doing DJ kind of things. I'm really very ignorant about mixing tunes like that, so I really can't say.

My guess is that most of the folks who visit the n-track forum don't use it the way you want to. This might not be the best place to ask your question. You might try the DJ/Hip Hip/ Rap/Beats forum.

Or try posting this question in the Newbie section. A lot more people visit that forum who might be able to answer your question.

Ya never know- someone could be along any moment who CAN answer that question here.

I agree with Chriss in that Ntrack is a great multi-tracking software, but not relative over-kill for cataloging mp3s for burning.

I've used Nero and V-jay with positive results.

Got a question for you since you're new here....
In your opinion, is a DJ a musician?

Thanks first of all. I do think a DJ is a musician. A conductor in other words. I think a DJ has more talent then some of your average Pop artists out there. I don't have to much respect for the people that don't write there own music and then make millions just because they have a great body then are comended for being the artist of the year. It's been done before, taking someone off the street and making them into a star. Anyway there is alot of talent in DJing mostly learned through experience though and not just god given talent. I wouldn't necessarily say that someon that tacks other peoples tracks and mixes them together a musician, something like i'm trying to do but a DJ that is in the studio sampling and producing.
