Hi this is my first post after reading many a great,

Ok so here's my situation, I want to record a bunch of demos on a Tascam 414 mk1. I'm recording on my own at the moment but need a friend to record drums over some tracks. I want to record a scratch guitar track for him to record with and then in my own time re record the guitar. We don't have time to practice the songs together, it's him being more like a session guy, i give him the track he records the drums etc...anyway I'll have to use a metronome for my part, since we wont be playing at the same time.

Problem is I have songs with tempo shifts, how would I record with a metronome when there are tempo shifts?
Any ideas on how to make it as simple as possible?

thanks

Ok, I can't find the manual for the 414mk1. So here's what I would do . . . .

use your computer to run a program LIKE fruity loops (NOW FL Studios.) Here you should be able to map tempos and tempo changes. If you have an I/O interface you can record the track directly if not just play it over speakers as you record your scratch track. I don't really use computer programs so I can't tell you what to use, but I'd go that route. If you 414 accepts SMPTE sync operations . . . I'd tell you to get a drum machine and a synchronizer (I got a JL Cooper PPS-100 synchronizer for less than $5 on ebay, works a charm) and you can usually mad tempo changes in the synchronizer units. So there you have it.

i haven't got a computer :(
any way with just the 4 track and a metronome?
