Hi!

I recently purchased a Midistart Music 25 MIDI keyboard (nothing fancy, but I figured it'd work for me). I connected it to my PC (Win XP) via USB and it was installed (and regonized as a audio device). So far, so good.

However, it won't show up in Cubase LE! If I'm not wrong, it should show itself as an "audio equiment/device" (or whatever it's called) under 'All MIDI Inputs', right? I tried to google around, but to no avail.

I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. I followed the basic instructions (which read like "connect it to an usb port, and you're good to go"). I read somewhere that Win XP sometimes has a problem with USB MIDIs, could that be it?

Any help wold be much appreciated. :)

Are you sure it just doesn't work? Try adding a MIDI track to a project and hit record and play something. I think the default for the input on MIDI tracks is "All Inputs". Keep in mind you won't hear sound coming from the computer because you're only recording MIDI data.

Thanks, I'll check it out. :)

I still can't get it to work. I tried to record something, but it came out empty. The MIDI keyboard doesn't show up at all either. God, when it comes to MIDI sutff I feel so lost. :(

Oh, and I tried to connect it to my soundcard instead, but that didn't work either.

I can't be much help as I'm a Mac only person... but one thought was to try another DAW like Reaper just to see if that works. I know that isn't the end result you want.

Also, it's slim chance (and you did say that the driver was recognized in XP) but I have had USB cables that worked with most things but did not work with my keyboard.

Yeah, I'm gonna try to download Reaper and see if it works. Thanks. :)

You could join a Cubase LE forum and ask someone there.

On the Cubase site *http://www.steinberg.net/en/support/usa.html it says "An important part of any support offer is the contact via email and telephone" and but you look and look and look you can't find a phone number on their site. Then when you email them, 24 hours later you get a reply that says "As for our phone number we do not have an open phone number".

So they do have a phone number, they just aren't going to tell you what it is.

To me that's a politically correct way of saying "Fuck you very much!".

But you could go to that page I linked above and send them an email, and they did get back to me about a problem I had. I do think that Cubase is a much more complete app than Reaper depending on your needs. Nothing I've seen touches Cubase MIDI wise.
