The VOICE
All,
After weeks of reading interesting threads such as this one from jmorris, as well as ones from Waffleness and doulos’, I've been talking with doulos and offered to set up a file hosting where users of this community can post and pull raw audio files for purposes of mixing practice. (I already have a file host that I use for my commercial clients.) While this is a bit of a compromise from some who have desired "label release" songs to be posted, I think we can work with each other’s stuff for a while (at least I hope we can).
Before we open the floodgates to those who want to participate, let me establish some ground rules!
1. While participation is not exclusive, it is not public. I am hosting the files with a certain degree of control, so participants will need to contact me for instructions and a password to access the files.
2. Users who wish to post files to the site do so under the understanding that others will download these audio files and use them for practice & educational purposes. Copyright protection is your own responsibility.
3. On the topic of copyright protection, users are allowed only to access files designated for this project. My file hosting site is used to transfer audio files to my clients. If you download one of my paying clients' copyrighted files from the site, I shut the whole thing down and report back to this board what a dirtbag you are.
4. I am offering to host a maximum of 10GB at a time. This should give us enough room for a few projects each month, with the intent of rotating projects every 30 days or so. (I have to limit space to allow for ample room for my paying jobs.)
5. I reserve the right to delete any inappropriate files. My hosting site is used for business. Therefore, when you post an unsavory vocal track, you can expect it to be quickly deleted. No exceptions.
For those interested in donating audio files for the project, or for those interested in obtaining access to others' posted files, either PM me or send me an e-mail via my website (below) to get set up.
