If you decide that you do not want to frame, maybe because you like the soft look, then the typical solution is to use impaling clips.

If you want the panels stood off from the wall a distance then screw blocks to the walls and then attach the impaling clips to the blocks.

Yeah, but since nobody mentioned impaling clips I felt I should in case others read the thread and think that the only real choice is framing.
