and I mean that in the most stereotypical way possible, so no offense to any alt. lifestylers out there - but this is the equivilant of a woman asking her girlfriends what dress looks good on her.

Okay, I have a Fender American St. Strat - Ash - Natural finish. When I bought it a few years ago, it came with the white pick guard and the white knobs, P/U covers, etc. So I swapped that out for a black pickguard and the "aged" white (off-white-dingy-yellowish) accessories. I like it - it looks good now.

So. I get a sale rag from GC yesterday, and I see they have Fender Pearloid pickguards on sale for $19.95. Normally, this wouldn't raise an eyebrow, but these pearloid pickguards come in 5 different colors. One of those colors is a dark, almost forrest green. Did I mention that Forrest Green is my favorite color?
Anyway, I want to go get one - and I just might. How do you think it will look? Will it look stupid? Anybody have a picture of something similar that they can post so I can see if it will look good. I think it will, but I am not sure. Damn, I feel like my 49% gayness has taken the ol' ride past the 50% mark!

I know I sound gay for asking.

But do you think a green pearloid pickguard on a natural ash finish sounds gay?

For some reason, I just can't see it in my head.

HEY! I think that looks good! I have a rosewood fretboard, but I think that will accentuate it and make it even better!

Thanks H2H!!! That was one hell of a pull! Either you have a steel trap-like mind, or that guitar made an impression on you, eh?

Thanks again! You have given me sight!!!

It really did stand out. As soon as I read your post, I remembered seeing it on the wall there. Glad my old web host is still up without me paying for it!!:)

To me what sounds gay is how the fucking rape you for replacement pickguards! You're talking about a custom pickguard ON SALE for 19.95.I look on Musicians Friend for a black strat pickguard, its like 35 bucks! For a piece of plastic. What I actually want is a strat style pickguard cut out for two humbuckers.I wasn't able to find that at MF.I can only Imagine what it would cost If I did.
I could buy pickguard material cheap at stewmac, but I dont have the tools to cut it out. They really have you bent over!

This is going to sound Gay.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Couldn't restist. Otherwise, no comment. I'm color blind anyway.

The last day of November for us real he-men to enjoy increased levels of testosterone, and you gotta throw forrest green out there to gay everything up!

Pearloid ? Wasn't that the name of the construction worker in The Village People ?

I just had my house painted a dark brown with forest green trim.

I am not gay. However, I would not give a damn if anyone though I was.

If you like the color, go for it. I think that it what a real hetero man would do....

That pic that H2H gave of the nat'l w/green rules.......and the rosewood board would make it even cooler.....

However, if there is a lavender color pearloid, Jerry Falwell might possibly become erect..........and we don't want that to happen, now do we ?................................gibs

Okay, got the green PG. If I have time, I'll change it this weekend and post before and after pics.

i may have to try that on my natural yamaha pacifica....do u think it will match my pink overalls?.....

If you do get that pickguard, you've gotta get an axe painted the same as my ESP Custom (avatar on left) to reassert your heterosexuality.
